Corel Preps WordPerfect Office 11

As Microsoft prepares for next week's official release of Office 2003 Beta 2, Corel has announced details on the new version of its own office suite. WordPerfect Office 11 is an evolutionary upgrade featuring improved document flexibility and new file-sharing features.

Corel has added a new conversion utility for migrating WordPerfect files to a variety of formats, along with enhanced XML support for viewing content on a wide range of devices. Office 11 integrates with ZIM SMS Office for updating spreadsheets remotely via mobile phone.

WordPerfect Office 11 contains new document map and collaborative review functions providing greater flexibility when working with documents. A document routing feature additionally allows WordPerfect users to collaborate via Microsoft Outlook.

"WordPerfect users love the quick and intuitive access to features that give them full control over their documents," said Corel's executive vice president of software development, Graham Brown. "With WordPerfect Office 11 we're offering a highly capable product to long time WordPerfect Office users and to a growing number of users seeking an alternative to Microsoft's cost and strict terms of licensing."

WordPerfect Office 11 is slated to ship in late April. The Standard edition of the suite will retail for $300 USD with an upgrade version available for $150. A Professional edition will be available as a license-only offering to business customers. WordPerfect Office 11 Standard Edition includes WordPerfect 11, Quattro Pro 11, Presentations 11 and Corel's Paradox relational database.
