RSS100GB Hard Drive for Xbox Coming

Microsoft announced in Korea Thursday that it plans to deliver a 100-gigabyte hard drive add-on for the Xbox 360. The current premium version of the console comes with a 20GB hard drive. The news came at the company's X06 conference, but no specific timetable was set.
With 100GB of storage, Microsoft could more easily position the Xbox as a full-blown media center for the living room. In addition, users would have more space to store Xbox Live downloads, and potentially even music and video purchases in the future. The add-on is expected to arrive in Korea next March, but a United States launch, as well as pricing, are still unknown.
XBOX 360 with 20 GB HDD and HD-DVD = $600
PS3 with more processing power, 60 GB HDD, self-recharging wireless controllers, and Blu-ray = $600
100 GB HDD will make the console cost AT LEAST $700.

|Great! a bigger harddrive so I can wait hours to download useless crap off XBL.. One can do this much cheaper.. XBOX360 modders have already figured out a way to connect a bigger harddrive via USB... It won't be too much longer until someone figures out how to clone the existing 20GB to a bigger 120GB SATA 7200RPM notebook drive..
I bet M$ will comeout with a special edition 360 late next year that will have the HD-DVD built in and an optional bigger SATA snapon drive... If not, I'm sure there will be third party service that will roll something out...

|I would image so, it sits the other side of the HD-DVD bolt-on. Hope there is room under your TV for all these bodged on extras..
On a more serious note, as there is only 1 Hard drive slot. I hope everyone likes losing their downloaded content and savegames, as it looks like there is no easy way to transfer them....
Price is apparently $199, and it's only 40GB more than the PS3 has as standard...

and btw - PS3 has nothing since it is not out yet. your sentence should have read "it's only 40GB more than the PS3 WILL HAVE as standard"

how is 100gb is full blow?? i currently have 250gb in modifyed original xbox and it is nowhere near enough - thanks goodnes for those networked drives and xbmc server. the capacity is not that expencive today either, you can find 300gb hdd for ~100$.

|That would have put the price up and considering not everyone wants a 100GB drive it would have been pointless. I am happy with 20GB, its enough for a few demos and videos and thats all I want it for. If you want no hdd you have that option as well, I think it is great MS is giving consumers choice this way.
