Apple Cuts Prices on Cinema Displays

In the wake of the announcement surrounding Apple's new Mac Pro quad-core desktops, the Cupertino company on Monday quietly slashed prices on its Cinema displays by up to $500 USD. The move is likely aimed at selling more of Apple's signature displays, of which every Mac Pro can support at least one 30-inch or at least two smaller displays.
Apple's smallest model, the 20-inch, has been reduced to $699 USD. This is $100 less than its previous $799 price tag. The mid-range 23-inch display was reduced by $300 to $999 USD, and the top of the line 30-inch now retails for $1,999 USD, a savings of $500 over its previous $2,499 price. All three models are available from the Apple store, and are shipped within 24 hours according to the Apple Web site.
I guess Dell will then reduce the price of there 30incher. Which will make me happy cause i wanted to buy one.

|I'm not trying to sound like an Apple fanboy or anything, but you have to admit the Apple monitors look a lot better than pretty much every other monitor out there. Also, the monitors do use a completely aluminum shell, which doesn't come cheap.

|They do look great, but you can find other LCDs that look just as good (same specs) for cheaper. Granted, not a whole lot cheaper ($60-$100) but still cheaper. Apple's price drops seem to finally bring their pricing in line with the models of comparable quality of other manufacturers. They are still a bit more expensive; but not outrageously anymore.

|If you all cant afford a $700 cinema display then you need to get a new job. Quit complaining when you cant afford it, poor asses.
Go buy that ugly Dell piece and keep workin that $9 per hr IT job.

|I think you missed the point...its like saying you'll buy a toyota corolla for $100,000, when you can get the same thing for a lot less...

|He won't ever get the point. He is the epitomy of the blind mac zealot stereotype. (Nevermind that you can be making well over $9/hr and still have expenses that eat up your money like student loan repayments).

|You'll please excuse this college kid for not having an over-abundance of spending money. I guess I should just starve myself for the next year. Then, maybe I'll have saved enough money to buy one of these things.
...maybe.
Thanks for laughing at my current status in life, too. It just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy every time I see your name now.
'ppreciate it.

|So, Apple's 2-for-1 pricing policy is still in place. That's pay for 2, get 1, of course :-)

|Awesome! I’ve been eyeing the Dell 3007WFP 30-inch which was priced lower than the rival Apple… until now… come on Dell lower your price too… got to love competition ;)

|WOW! At prices this low I think I'll buy 12 of them. Give us a break Apple. Maybe that's why they released this price cut "quietly" because their prices are still a crock of $h!t.

|hey dude, that apple logo alone is worth at least 300$ more!
I can imagine the freaks from here, getting all exited from this huge price cut :)

Newegg - Samsung Syncmaster 20.1" - $349-$60 Rebate
Apple is just hammering its crazy loyal customers. Ouch.
Do they give you special Apple lube for your poor rear end before they drive it home?

|Riiiight... LCD prices are some of the fastest falling prices in technology right now. I can't believe Apple thinks they can get away with calling this a "price cut" as if it's something buyers should be excited about.
If anything, those prices are even more inflated than they used to be, when LCD monitors were more expensive.

But if you drive a $60K BMW, blew $30K on your wife's plastic perfection, and dropped $15K on your last vacation in the Bahamas, then... well, what's 7 bucks?

|Apple *isn't* calling it a price cut, they've simply silently dropped the prices on the LCDs, as they've done a couple times in the past with them (and other products).
(Not that I don't think they're still kinda pricey, but I'm not complaining...)

|You're right, my bad. The article does say they dropped the prices silently, so Apple isn't trying to get away with anything. Apparently Betanews is though. =p
