Apple Launches Latino Music, Video Content

Apple is targeting the ever-increasing numbers of Latino consumers by offering a dedicated section of the iTunes Store focused on content aimed at that demographic. It also announced the addition of television shows from the Telemundo and mun2 networks.

The Latin area would feature music tracks and videos, as well as audio books, podcasts, and television shows. Apple vice president Eddy Cue said that Latin Music has been a big hit for the music service.

"We're thrilled to offer customers their favorite Latin music and video programming with iTunes Latino," he said in a statement. Music genres available would include Regional Mexicano, Rock Alternativo, Baladas y Boleros, Pop Latino, Reggaeton and Hip-Hop among others.

Television content includes the popular Telmundo shows "Pasion de Gavilanes," "El Cuerpo del Deseo" and "Decisiones," while the mun2 youth network will feature reality content like "mun2: The Immigration Special."

The iTunes Store now features over 3.5 million songs, 65,000 podcasts, 20,000 audiobooks, over 5,000 music videos and 250 television shows, Apple said.
