Family Guy's Stewie to Host Internet Talk Show

By Ed Oswald | Published January 25, 2006, 4:07 PM

Stewie fans rejoice: the vocal tyke will be getting his own talk show. The show would be based on familyguy.com and other News Corp properties. While it would not be the first time an animated character has hosted some kind of talk show -- Space Ghost was first on Cartoon Network -- it has already gotten the attention of several Madison Avenue advertisers.

News Corp plans to target younger demographics with the program, the same that have become loyal weekly viewers of the television show both on Fox and in syndication. "We think that the property is perfectly suited for that audience," Fox Interactive Media president Ross Levinsohn said in a statement. The show is planned to launch as an Internet-only feature later this year.

And betanews is appealing to the more infantile set of our reviewers with such an article.

I love family guy, but I don't see how this is going to be any good. The internet only aspect of the launch is already a bad idea in my opinion. And further more I love family guy just the way it is. I don't see this being profitable and going down the drain very soon after it is launched.

However, I will watch, and see if the show is any good.

LAME. I'm so sick of hearing about Family Guy. Seriously, that's all I ever hear about around campus.

When will the fad end?

Sorry, but just because something you don't like is popular does not mean it's a fad. This applies to the iPod haters as well.

eh hating something because it has a popular 'image' means you a image concious and therefor shallow. complaining about it as if something will be changed in addition to this does not bode well.

myself, i saw an episode and it was real funny, but i don't have the care to bother much with american cartoons nor much tv. i prefer japanese tvs, their variety shows need to be ported. i was laughing without understanding most of it.

i also agree putting it hear stretches the bar on appropriate news articles

Just because he doesn't want to hear it anymore makes him shallow?

So that song I keep hearing on all the radio stations that I absolutely hate makes *me* shallow?

lmao... A more unique definition of logic would be hard to find. I congratulate you, sir!

oh please.. assuming family guy is a fad just because it is popular and he doesn't like it is rather shallow. people that hate things because other people like them so much are indeed shallow, which is clearly in his comment. it's not like he said he watched a bunch of episodes and hated what he saw. But go ahead and defend him cause that's the logical thing to do right?

"shallow and pedantic .. yes, yes.. shallow and pedantic."

If they play it, it must be popular...if it's popular, I better like it, cuz if I don't I'm shallow.

Yeah, okay.

Thanks.

[We won't know if it's a fad until it's gone, mmmkay?]

Excuse me?

I'm image conscious because I choose not to like something popular?

You attack me because of it, and I'm the one that's shallow. Sure...

"assuming family guy is a fad just because it is popular and he doesn't like it is rather shallow."

I'm not going to debate whether or not it's a fad with you. I really couldn't care less. I'm sorry if I dislike something you like. Really, it makes me sick to my stomach thinking about it.

But you're calling me shallow because of it? Get over yourself, dude.

"people that hate things because other people like them so much are indeed shallow,"

Did I say that's why I don't like it? Umm... nope. Good job with your reading comprehension there. I watched 6 episodes from the first season on a friend's DVD set. I find the show disgusting, vulgar, and down-right blasphemous.

"it's not like he said he watched a bunch of episodes and hated what he saw."

See above. Thanks for playing "Who's Shallow?" Come again.

EDIT:
P.S.
"shallow and pedantic .. yes, yes.. shallow and pedantic."

What's shallow and pedantic is Family Guy. I would like to see someone contest that fact.

You are correct. I forgot to add the all important qualifier: "In my opinion."

"In my opinion" wasn't necessary, since you were clearly posting an opinion.
