GameTap Network Needs Beta Testers

By the Betanews Staff | Published April 4, 2007, 6:39 PM

AOL is seeking beta testers for TimeWarner's GameTap network, which provides on-demand access to games of old such as Asteroids and Zork. The service frequently adds new features such as customizable controller mappings, and needs a team of testers to provide feedback.

To apply, visit GameTap's beta site and use the password: CoralSea. Fill out GameTap's beta application with as much detail as possible. Not everyone who applies will be accepted, and your answers will be used to determine your qualifications for beta testing.

I've been a tester on this project over a year and it's really alot of fun, you'd be surprised how new many of the titles are including some from just last year. Plus you get to play all you want for free!

The model of paying for a game by subscription is where the future of all gaming is going. They may have started with games from the 80's but as they grow we see more recent titles coming out on GameTap. You only need to look at the console wars to see that subscription based gaming is really coming into it's own. Every major player in the game market is working on getting into it. GameTap has the advantage in being the one with the most titles available. Sony even combined their MMO subscriptions allowing players to pay once to play many MMO titles.

this appeals to plenty of people. I've been a gametap beta tester since the last one... there's lots of great games in there, and since you're beta testing, it's all free! What's wrong with playing tetris or even crazy taxi once in a while?
