A high end PC is about even in performance with a PS3/360 right now...I've even noticed slowdown on the PS3 in some graphically intense scenes... and in about 6 months time when the next generation of PC video cards are released the consoles with their ZERO upgrade path will be second best yet again... look at the PS2... 6 years.. same hardware... what a joke. Granted though a good PC video card alone costs more than an PS3 so good value for money for some bargain basement gaming. Frag on.

The 360 and Wii are gettign a lot of play time, the PS3 not so much, as for movies I've bought a number of HD-DVDs and Blu-Ray titles and all of the HD-DVDs look better than anything on Blu-Ray, with the exception of Xmen III where they finally decided not to use the crappy Mpeg2 codec (even Sony used that crap an Silent Hill man that ticked me off) and that movie went for $10 over any of the HD-DVDs I bought for the same quality. I'm currently running everything in 1080P by the way (except the Wii, only supports up to 480P but is still fun). People like Hollywood_ are the fanboys here, they only own one system, jump into discussions about any news on anything else to pump their choice despite it being off topic, hand just make crap up. The true mark of a fanboy, or a paid company shill. 360 owners aren't feeling any pressure from the PS3, since they only shipped 200 thousand here and less in Japan, you mind equating 400K (yes that's being generous)of sales as pressure on 8 Million? Heck even the Wii isn't feeling any competition from them, of course Nintendo had their act together and shipped at least twice as many units.

Yep the 360 is noisy when playing games, quiet when playing DVDs or HD-DVD, and yes the PS3 is quieter, which is one of the few good things it has going for it.

the games are already hurdling past 6-7GB per game, won't be long before they won't fit on a standard dvd.

Fortunately for me...Microsoft gave me the option of buying an HDDVD player if I want and didn't force it down my throat...and if I buy it that plus the 360 still doesn't cost more then a ps3. Not to mention I have more then 6 games to choose from, amazing graphics (Gears of War looks better then any current PS3 title, and there's still ALOT of power to be tapped).

$600 for a machine that can play games and bluray which looks the same (or worse) then HDDVD, not to mention unless you're screen is 1080p and bigger then 60 inches you won't see a difference...less and less exclusive titles, fraction of the games that are already available for the 360...fraction of the fun of the Wii yet 3 times the cost...yes, that's some bargain right there...

I really don't see any reason why. They are only using the second 25GB layer for bloated filler, whereas HD-DVD is using all 30GB for the movie and standard extras. Have the Bluray discs stopped using archaic compression schemes yet?

Which games? Even if you can name them, they would still fit on a DVD-DL, and you couldn't really call it "hurdling", more like crawling as for years now many games have been near dvd capacity.

Only a few have Xmen III actually looks as good as my HD-DVDs but of course it cost $10 more for the movie over what my HD-DVDs coost. As for his "noticeably better" it's just FUD for the majority of the titles, HD-DVD looks way better on my 1080P set for everything else and I'm running those via the VGA connector (Xbox 360 w/ optional player), my PS3 is hoooked up via HDMI.

the average ps2 game is 1-4GB
the average ps3 game is 6GB+, the biggest being "resistance fall of man" at a whopping 15.5GB. (fit that on a DVD-DL)

Not really. Since you can get the 360 for about $200 cheaper. And you can get basically the same games (with basically the same graphics). Plus the 360 already has more great games out, since it was released a year ago.

Even though Blu-Ray as more companies supporting it, it looks like HD-DVD has more movies plus more people are supporting it (if you look at the sales).

Also since Sony decided to use a 2x Blu-Ray drive in it, games will also take longer to load. For example on The Elder Scrolles IV: Oblivion actually takes longer to load than the 360 version does with the 12x DVD-Rom. It's also a long game too, and it fit on one DVD too.

If your like me and don't care to buy DVD's, the Blu-Ray actually makes gaming worse.

What is causing so much bloat, is every texture stored uncompressed on the disc? How long is the game play on that? How big the world? If you look at the sales figures for Gears, it's amazing. Number 4 at Amazon. The game is one of the best I have ever seen. It would figure though. Microsoft built the game in house and told them money was no object, just make the best game ever.

The Sony fanboys don't want to hear any of this, but the 360 is selling about 100,000 units a day. That should put them very close to ten million by the end of the year. The HD-DVD add-on is still sold out. Don't get me wrong, I like the PS3 too, and I am hoping to get a Wii this week.

The PS3 has some pretty amazing hardware inside, and the ease of adding a new hard drive is really nice.

What positive PS3 news? I have a PS3 on my shelf (along with my PS2, Wii, Xbox, and 360) and I haven't seen any positive news. The only positive things I've seen have been hype and spin from Sony, getting more and more irritated everytime one of the Sony officials speaks exagerations/lies just flow freely from them.

After the crap Sony pulled with the fake viral marketing campiegn for the PSP (I've got one of those too), makes me wonder if all the ravenous fans are real even.

Ya know as a serious response to that, I am no fan of the PS, I own a XBox and Nintendo(s) before that. I don't follow the Wii and PS3 or PC game genres I don't care for. But a lot of the time I could at least name the flagship titles for a lot of different platforms and genres I am not interested in, and in all honesty, I wouldn't even be able to name one PS3 title. You are coming up the ranks in the Sony fanboy department, once again, everything Microsoft is evil and Sony is the best.

I'd blame piss-poor marketing coupled with Sony's shady PS3 launch (the expectant console shortages) as the leading factors in RFoM down fall.

The bottom line is that Gears of War is a very good game, with a slight learning curve on the controls. Xbox/Xbox360 are failures in Japan, Wii is interesting yet not graphically as powerful as 360 or PS3. PS3 looks nice and neat, yet is suffering production pains, which all three camps have or had. All camps have their hardcore fans and naysayers, so just deal with it and move on. Buy whatever system that has your favorite game(s).

Just to add a good thing I do like about the PS3 is the ability to change out the harddrive (even supported in the manual) something the 360 sorely lacks, I now have a 120GB drive in mine.

Personally I have all 3, same as last gen, so when i naysay i'll gladly do it about any of the problems that irk me on any of the platforms. Besides if the public doesn't complain/bash/rant then the companies will continue to treat us like mindless sheep and not improve the product.
