Google Shrinks Gmail for Cell Phones

By Nate Mook | Published December 15, 2005, 10:20 PM

Google late Thursday rolled out Gmail Mobile, a miniaturized version of its popular Web mail service for cell phones and mobile devices. It automatically adjusts the interface depending on the size of the screen, and can even open attachments including Word documents, PDF files and pictures.

If a contact's phone number is in the Gmail address book, users can also reply to a message with a call. Gmail Mobile can be accessed free of charge by visiting m.gmail.com, but carrier data fees may apply. Google on Thursday also added two other features to Gmail: a vacation auto-responder and the ability to create contact groups.

I love it! Yes, Yahoo and MS had this feature already but now it's available for Gmail!!! Those who like Gmail over Yahoo and Hotmail will certainly enjoy this feature.

Works on my LG VX7000!!!

Not working on Nextel, damn "500: Web Service Problem: Please Contact the service provider" The details are "1025: Infinite redirect loop". But this is a common Nextel issue, I don't think it is Gmail.

Works on my Nextel Blackberry 7100i.

I have an i870. I am going to guess browser software is probly different on the 7100i. I have Nextel "working" on it.

Sorry, should have been more specific, I can log in and read email, but when I compose a message and try to send it. That is when the error pops up

I think its of note, that Yahoo! has been doing this for years, Google is the new player, but Yahoo is STILL ahead of Google in many respects...

This is new to Google, but its NOT new the cell phone users, because Yahoo has made this available.

Maybe so, but for those of us that despise Yahoo mail (and hence don't use it) this is a cool addition.

No one ever said it was new to cell phone users, the article is about the new feature to Gmail.
