Google Tests Search Result Change

By the Betanews Staff | Published January 27, 2006, 1:48 PM

A minor update to a Web site rarely makes headlines -- unless you're talking about Google. The company began testing a tweak to its search result pages, and the news quickly spread across the Web on Thursday. In the test, Google moved links to each of its sites to the left side of search results.

Below each search category, such as Groups and Local, is a graph showing the quantity of results. "We're continually testing new interfaces and features to enhance the user experience. This is one such test, which only a small percentage of users will see," Google officials said in a statement.

Its a moot point. Yahoo is still better at searching.. I am not going off of Yahoos test, I am going off my own test. Do your own test, Google returns a lot more irrelevant data, further proof they are spamming during a search, and proving Google is evil.

Yahoo search is better, despite the opinion of Google. Google will get sued. Mark my words, then this apparent bubble Google is on, will burst, and they will crumble. I don't hate google at all. I like them, but facts are facts, they continue to support spam. They own the majority of search companies that spam your inbox. I don't care if you believe me, they are facts.

Search, from any engine other than google of course, and you can easily find info all over the net as to their ownership of questionable companies...

Uh what? Yes, somehow you have these so called "facts" that Google "owns" some phantom "search companies" that spam your inbox? Your reasoning makes no sense to tell you the truth. They are giving irrelevant results because they are spamming e-mail addresses at the same time? Huh?

Anyhow, you can go on believing your conspiracy theory.

The real reason most likely for Google's poorer results as of late is that people have figured out how to exploit Google's ranking system filling it with crap sites.

"I don't care if you believe me, they are facts."

Ah yes, the favorite closing argument for any fanatic. Quite like the three year old, covering her ears and shouting, "I'm not listening!" over and over again.

Let's not invite debate, let's not leave room for other opinions or "facts" (as you call them)...no, let's just slam the door on anything remotely thought-provoking by telling everyone, "I am right, you are wrong, those are the facts, and I'm not listening."

Pure genius.

As always, I am amused, rijp. Thanks again.

Which kinda makes them less likely to return results you might actually want, eh?

No offense, but if the service is being abused, it uses usefullness. Not that it's happening to all that great a degree...yet.

I personally still feel Googles results are better for what I sue it for (technical), than MSN, yahoo, and the like.
