RSSJoost Allowing Unlimited Beta Invites

Internet television service Joost moved into public beta on Tuesday, as the company announced that it is allowing its existing beta testers to invite an unlimited number of friends and family to sign up for the service.
Current users can invite anyone by clicking on the "My Joost" area, then selecting the "Invite Friends" widget.
In addition to the announcement of the commercial launch of the service, Joost also said that advertising campaigns from its 32 companies will begin running across the service this month. Some will begin running immediately, while others will be added throughout the month.
"Today marks the beginning of an exciting phase for Joost - we are officially open for business," global advertising chief David Clark said in a statement.
Joost is the brainchild of Janus Friis and Niklas Zennstrtzm, the founders of Skype and Kazaa. Boasting itself as a "secure, efficient, piracy-proof Internet platform," Joost hopes to lure television networks and content providers to distribute their videos online, which uses peer-to-peer streaming.
It will feature more than 150 channels across a variety of genres, which would vary by region based on its deals with content providers. Most of the programming is available in the US, although Joost indicated it was working to add content for users outside of the country.

|Don't send me an invite, I had to be different more bandwidth hogging crap, so once again my broadband will slow down because of some more money making greedy company.
with Sky, BBC, ITV, channel 4 and now Joost taking up bandwidth, how on earth are people that have no interest in this rubbish expect to browse the net?
The briitsh ADLS system is rubbish to start with, start stick high bandwidth video services though it and it will fall over, and what about people who have caps, I bet they will not realise how much these services uses until they get an email from their ISP, telling them that their service will be shapped or capped.

|The new PVR functionality in the Vista Home Premium Media Center for Joost is really pretty nice. Its encoded naturally, but with a little tweaking to the code you can record the programs to DVD if you wanted too. The down side its an internet feed, so the quality is rather bad, when compared to a quality DVD purchase. This is a good beginning but far from perfect. Xvid or divx codecs seems to be superior to me and is more universal on platforms. Eventually I think Joost will use something along that line to compress their feeds and allow for better streaming without losing quality. iTunes is not much better, but kudos to Joost for integrating into media center for the MSN set top PVR boxes.
