Lenovo PCs to Bundle Windows Live

Despite two high-profile departures and continued confusion over branding, Microsoft delivered some positive Windows Live news Wednesday, announcing a deal with Lenovo to pre-load Windows Live services with the manufacturer's ThinkPad notebooks and desktop PCs.
Live.com will become the default homepage for those systems, and the Windows Live Toolbar will be pre-installed. Lenovo indicated it will deliver PC updates and other information through the customizable Live.com site to customers. The OEM deal is the first involving Windows Live for Microsoft; previously, the company offered its MSN portal to PC markers.
Bundling, now there's an idea.

|hate on MS and Lenovo all you want. Both companies make great products.
Don't like Lenovo products...ok. Think the design of their products aren't good enough for you...ok
Don't like MS products because it has MS name on it? Ok. But the Live page features a lot of free and very productive apps that don't load anything you don't need. Shame on that right?
This is a great combo. Nice, sleek and conservative hardware design meets the same in software. Sorry...no asinine arrogance included...those you can obtain elsewhere.

I don't know; there's a whole lot of ticked off Vista users who might disagree with that right now.

You haven't listened to a Steve Ballmer speech late, have you? ;o)

...and there's very likely a whole lot more who are perfectly satisfied.

|Personal experience means squat to the point you were trying to make.
I've seen plenty of reviews going both ways, usually dependent on the bias of the reviewer in question.
Seeing as how most folks who are satisfied aren't going to go out an praise it (opposed to those who despise it or already have a grudge) I would not be the least bit surprised to find that there are more negative responses on the net. That's only natural.
You never hear anyone praising AOL (Except Tom), but they ain't dead yet, are they?

|As if anyone with half a brain uses preinstalled crap, they deserve the pain it causes them. I usually wipe and reload with my own stuff so it doesn't really matter.

|Lenovo makes a great laptop computer and Window Live is a great search engine. This combo should work excellent together, but probably will not help sales. www.onlinecrazydeals.com

We will not be buying Lenovo from now on.

Keep going with that delusion and see how far it gets ya. HAHAHA

|So, let me get this straight. Just because a user comments, on topic, with a valid statement, he becomes a troll? Hmmm, something doesn't quite seem right about that. Maybe that is because a troll is somebody who openly ignores the given topic and makes nonsensical statements ON the topic, in regards to somebody else. Oh wait, that's exactly what you are doing. Yea. Good job.
In regards to the actual topic, I have to agree. Just because software is being preloaded means that you won't be buying from them? That is completely ignorant. Dell, HP, Sony, all of the OEM companies do the exact same thing, from pre-loading their own deal-created software (IE, Norton Trials, Symantec, etc), to setting your homepage as THEIR website. The only difference, is this is being done with Microsoft.
Good perspective there.

|I think iamtux is perfectly justified in his comment. If you don't like pre-installed software then don't use it. It's no reason to not buy a certain machine. If it was then Sony would go bust!
I think pre-installing Windows Live on machines is great idea. I think you cyber geeks have lost track of the real world that contains normal people who don't always want to do things for themselves. People want things to be as easy as possible and Windows Live is great for that.
A lot of you guys go beyond geek, some of you are just plain ignorant!
