MS: We Didn't ID Chinese Journalist

Microsoft on Tuesday denied any involvement in a case where a Chinese journalist was arrested for sending illegal e-mails through a Hotmail account. The prosecution of 45 year-old Li Yuanlong follows the conviction of two journalists based on data provided by Yahoo's China arm, which brought the company much cirticism.
Li could stand trial as early as this month, with the government claiming he "fabricated, distorted and exaggerated facts, incited to subvert the state and sought to overthrow the socialist system." Microsoft China said it had no information on how the journalist was identified, but through an internal review it determined it had played no part in the government's efforts to find Li.
I think it's rather obvious this is probably the result of some form of Chinese Echelon...

|who cares? it is Li Yuanlong's fault for breaking the rules of his govenrment, no matter how corrupt and unfair they are.
they have the power to change it if they dont like it.
god the U.S. did it when they didnt like the british rules. so china can do the same.
not to mention all the other countries that have overthrown their governments....

Do you have any idea what it's like in China? Have you been there in the past year?
Do you honestly think overthrowing a government is easy? Or pleasant? And who's going to replace the government? i could list a near endless amount of "successful" revolutions where the incoming government was far worse than the one they ousted.
For the love of whatever, if anything, you hold holy, please refrain from telling the people of China what to do.
And don't for a second think you have any clue or right to comment on what Li deserves or does not deserve.
You do not.

|yes i do know what it is like, but really it isnt our business to tell a big corp what to do based on our morals if the governments of the world wont interfere. face it the world is well aware of china's situation, and there is nothing we can do about it. since the world is standing idle.
and for the record i never said he got what he deserved, i just said he broke that counrties law, and now he will most likely pay for it, as sad as it may be.
although maybe the revolution thing might be a bit much it is something im sure will happen if china keeps up what it is doing, although im sure it would be more messy than i can imagine, even if just for the nukes issue

|> who cares?
We care. People who know what the word freedom means. We want to hear when people's freedom is oppressed. Because if we don't know about it we can't help.
If you don't care you don't have to read it. And you definitely don't have to post. You have that freedom.

Couuld you go without chinese products? And before you say yes, keep in mind most of the electronics and chips in your TV, computer, stereo and car are manufactured in China.
Sure, winge on about how bad china is. But until you can stop buying their products, and I admit, the table is bare without them, you can't really claim to be above it.

|Nope. I just don't have to like it. I actually hope that extensive commerce and thus exposure to the West helps.
The biggest problem is that the Chinese are students of history. They damn well know that no communist government has ever been transitioned to another style without a revolt.
