Microsoft Extends Mobile Reach

By Justin Jenkins | Published March 20, 2001, 4:57 PM

On the heels of possible new cell phone jamming legislation in Canada, Microsoft today made moves to strengthen it’s wireless market with the launch of a two-way pager and a mobile phone with built-in color screen to browse the Web. The two-way pager, built by Motorola, will carry a version of Microsoft’s MSN Messenger and Hotmail services, while the cell phone produced by Mitsubishi will contain a compact version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer Web browser. Microsoft also announced a deal to make a phone based on the company's "Stinger" phone platform, and another with Hewlett-Packard to offer a low-end model of its Jornada Pocket PC handheld computer. I can only hope with new wireless messaging technologies coming out that they see the need to lower the price to make it practicle. Even now it's a shame to see that internet services for the palm pilot (palm net specificily) cost just about the same price as my internet service at home (cable). Even a compromise of something based on a hourly limit/price would be cool, because it's not like i'll be downloading a 600meg iso on the lil 33.6 modem on it :)

or even by bandwith would be better, since you'll want to be on a bit so you can recieve messages and such

You guys desperately need to seperate yourselves from efront. The same news articles have been posted for two weeks, and the occasional new post is old and boring. Rid yourselves of the curse of efront, and soon!

There are some big changes in the works and we will be making some announcements shortly. I apologize for the stale articles - however we have been trying to keep new downloads up to date during this transition period. Expect to hear something very shortly.
