On the move, and tired of having to login on your laptop to check mail and other updates? If your mail services are hosted by a Microsoft Exchange Server, your answers may be solved. Microsoft has released mobile software which allows you to download updates from your home or office computer to a text-enabled mobile device.
Fully integrated with the Office 2000 suite, the package enables users to receive notifications on their cellular phone, pager, handheld PC, or other device whenever their desktop PC is running.
When used in conjunction with the Microsoft Mobile Information 2001 Server, you can receive e-mail, reminders, and task notifications even when your desktop is not running. It also gives IT professionals the management tools to enable advanced message formatting, secure message forwarding, and mobile access to information on corporate networks.
If you or your business is running Microsoft Exchange server, give the beta download of Mobile Manager a try.
For a first shot at this type of application, I am extremely happy with Mobile Manager. I set it up in 5 minutes yesterday, and based on the rules I set, it worked great.
I got an urgent message from a client while I was away and could respond.
Last night at 8 I was sent all my appointments for today so I could be prepared.
It isn't perfect, but for a beta release, it is great!
