Microsoft to Pay for Exclusive GTA Content

Although it stops short of the coveted "exclusive" contract, Microsoft said Wednesday that it had paid $50 million for exclusive content for Take-Two's Grand Theft Auto IV.
The next sequel in the wildly popular game series will launch in October on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, however downloadable add-ons will only be available for Microsoft's version.
Microsoft will pay $25 million for each of the two add-ons Take-Two is to produce. The company is likely hoping to recoup much of the cost through whatever content it decides to charge users for downloading.
Neither Take-Two nor Microsoft would comment on the specifics of the agreement, but it holds benefits for both sides. Take-Two is recovering from a shareholder revolt that turned the company on its head, and a host of financial troubles.
Microsoft, on the other hand, is looking to further distance itself from the PlayStation 3 and solidify its spot atop the next-generation console race. Gaining exclusive rights to high-profile content could help the company continue its dominance.
Even convincing game developers to agree to produce games for both console platforms helps Microsoft: much of the PlayStation's earlier strength was due to Sony's ability to attract high quality, exclusive titles.
Do the math? X-Box dvd format has 5GB's, Blu Ray has 25 GBs, Rockstar also anmounced on Game Spot that PS3 would have more game cause the Hard Drives on the X Box was optinal had to make it for the complete x box not just with Hard drives AND They are limited to 5GB compared to the PS3, So they will be diffrent but longer on PS3 without extra dollars spent,

|eh, I am a PS3 fanboy and i need to see confirmation of this...as far as I know the games are going to be the same...and 360 will get the extra doohickies through XBL...

|That means nothing for game code. Unless there is a ton of video a dual sided disk which is more than your quoted 5 gig is more than enough space. Even if and it is a moster if they could use a second disk, how many times has this been done before? So your point is pointless.

|...ladies and gentlemen, another Sony zealot is born with his head up his a$$.
DVDs only hold 5GB now? Woah, I must've missed something.

|And Blu-Ray holds 50GB, I must have missed something also...

|Yes, developers have already been forced to use multiple disks. Blue Dragon on 360 is across 3 DVD's The developers have a game in the works that needs 4 disks...
MGS4 needs over 30GB of space, and is on 50GB Blu-Ray media on PS3. If it ever comes to 360, it will be either vastly cut down, or come on 4 DVD's

|Yeah and the point is what? I'll switch disks if I have to on an excellent game system. I wonder low long it'ss take for those 50 gig disks to rot.

|Ok, as this article stands you are a troll, it in no way states users will have to pay for the content.
Until it states otherwise please refrain from speaking.
Funny thing is users are paying for Xbox Live but not jumping all over Sony's system... interesting.
You can play xbox online without the xbox live subscription you just can't use the xbox live service.

|the content will not be free, be it as this article is not the be all end all of information on the topic just because this article doesn't have a price tag doesn't mean there will not be one. included in the 2 separate downloads one is supposed to be an extra part of the city that will be added including new missions and extended storyline, the other no details but hopefully would include exclusive cars and probably outfits and stuff.
for that kind of content... it wont be free.

|Shouldn't that be XBoxLive owners to pay for Exclusive GTA Content?
Microsoft arn't no charity.. Free content has already been banned from XboxLive.. Epic were forced to charge for Gears maps, by Microsoft...

The first set of Gears of Wars maps was free.

|Yes, "LOL" indeed. I bet you believe that Sony would give away content for free, just out of the goodness of their hearts, right? You know, because Sony is such a consumer friendly company and all. That deserves a super-duper-mega-LOL righ there. Please. The only reason Sony would ever consider giving you anything fore free would be out of sheer desperation to claw back *any* of the gigantic market share they have lost. Just face it already, Sony was the wrong horse to bet on this time around. They came to the party a year late with a shiny piece of overpriced turd nobody wants.

Stop lying. Nobody ever gives anything away for free, certainly not Microsoft!

No fee content on XBL...
I have loads of free stuff on my PS3. And I don't have to pay to use PSN either...
Some people have more money than sense...
360 = cheap console (crappy unreliable console, but that's another story), expensive extras. Wifi costs exta, HD-DVD costs extra, charge and play kit costs extra, play online costs extra, EVERY YEAR...
Bargain NOT....

|You are an idiot, there is tons of free stuff on Live. I got the maps for free. Sony has tons of free stuff on their network yeah demos and trailors wow that is great. MS has that.
You don't need wifi or HD drive to play games. The myth of HD disks needed for games is just that a myth. The only thing cheap about the 360 is the price when compared to the Pcrap3 or PoS3.
Funny how you can never post reputable sites to you findings.
You post the same crap and untruths every chance you get. Keep trolling.

Even if you had to pay if it is worth it what is the problem. Sony gives so much away, not. You should really listen to yourself. I have yet to see anything on the Sony network that is really worth a download that is free.
