Netflix service on TiVo Series3 goes live

This morning, the Netflix service was officially made available to users of TiVo Series3, and TiVo HD XL users with the updated software and an existing Netflix subscription.
On Friday, the TiVo 11.0 software began to roll out, but other than a slight rearrangement on the main menu and the "11.0" insignia, there was little to speak of in the update. However, this meant that the updated boxes were primed for the Netflix On Demand service, which was announced at the end of October.
Now, through the DVR's interface, users can watch the movies and TV shows in the instant queue they have assembled through Netflix's site.
"With so much talk focusing on the economy these days," said Tara Maitra, General Manager and Vice President of Content Services at TiVo Inc, "this partnership makes more sense than ever because it brings people more movies at home."
TiVo's addition of Netflix On Demand follows Microsoft's Xbox 360, which received support for the service under a month ago when it unveiled an updated interface. It also comes after the DVR service company added a host of new functions, such as the ability to order Domino's Pizza, CinemaNow and Jaman on-demand content, and the upcoming ability to control TiVo with a BlackBerry.

|Annoying that for both Xbox Live and for TiVo that you have to add movies to your instant watching queue from a PC and can't just browse available movies through the device itself. Also with such few movies available for instant watching this isn't a feature that I think people will become Netflix customers for, just a small perk for the odd movie they're lucky enough to find and want to watch instantly. I started a free two week trial to check it out, and I wont be keeping my account once it's up.

|I signed up to netflix just because of this feature (on the xbox, i also have tivo which is a bonus now), and my parents have cancelled most their premium cable channels and signed up for netflix.
I LOVE this feature...and not too annoying to browse movies through your PC first. I put about 20 or 30 movies in my queue and just watch them whenever I feel like...if I want to watch something else I get on my PC and find something new...nothing terribly time consuming, unlike getting in my car to drive to the local blockbuster :)

|I can't believe people like you still complain. All I have to say is I don't have to get into my car and go to blockbuster and pay 4.99 per DVD rental. I don't have to remember when they are due. If I want to watch TV episodes or a full season of something Netflix has it ready all I have to do is click add to que and its in there and then I can watch it on my xbox or Tivo. What a hard concept that is. But I guess you prefer to get in the car, drive, spend 30 mins looking at new releases, then stand in line with morons, then pay 5 bucks per movie, then drive all the way back home, and then later try to remember when you have to take it back and if your 1 hour late you pay a late fee next time you go in.
I love Netflix. I am always updating my list so there always DVD's coming in every other day. It doesn't take that long for movies to get to you. Just about a full day. They have just about everything that you are looking for. Now that its available on xbox 360 and Tivo I don't have to spend 99 bucks for the Roku box.
