In order to keep sales of its popular portable gaming system at a high level, Nintendo debuted two new DS packages for consumers, which will arrive on Friday.
The first is a gold-colored device that would include The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, while a metallic rose-colored unit would come with the game Nintendogs: Best Friends.
Going further, the gold unit has Zelda's triforce logo engraved on the front of the unit, while the pink unit has a paw print engraved. Both are expected to sell well as new color launches in the past have resulted in a boost in sales.
Nearly 4.5 million DS consoles have sold in the US this year alone, and 13.6 million during the entire lifespan of the product. In October alone it sold 458,000 units, making it the second best-selling gaming device behind the Wii.
"Nintendo DS remains the portable system of choice for gamers," marketing chief George Harrison said.
No price has been specified for the package, as the company said it will allow retailers to set their own price. DS consoles themselves cost $129, and with a game it would run around $160. So, the price will likely fall somewhere near that.
Wii is kind of cool.. but IMHO it needs perhaps a little better control on the remotes and better graphics.. any word on a Wii 2 ?

Isn't it stupid how a company can keep it's sales up by just changing the packaging or case?

Glad you have your Wii now go play with it, don't let your mom catch you. You might also go blind.
