New Wii title from THQ seeks to mash up Guitar Hero

THQ has announced a new game for the Wii which turns the Mashup musical genre into armed combat.
Band Mashups for the Wii, expected in stores in April 2008, is based upon the combinative musical genre known as mashups. These are songs made up of two or more existent songs, usually of quite divergent syle, and mixed together to form a new hybrid song.
For example, one popular mashup combines 50 Cent's "In Da Club" with Nine Inch Nails' "Closer," resulting in a familliar, yet new and even ironic track.
The gameplay itself is also a mashup of the popular Guitar Hero-style "scrolling fretboard" with RPG-style party combat, all done with the Wii's trademark motion-based control.
Featuring 30 tracks from five different musical styles: Rock, Country, March, Funk/Hip Hop, and Latin, the musical styles face off, yielding up to 150 new mashups. If it all sounds confusing, you just might have to see it for yourself.

THQ has recently exploited Nintendo's unique controller schemes with titles like Drawn to Life for the DS, where the user draws much of the game's scenery himself. A Wii version of that game was also announced this week.
Seems like a really interesting concept to me. Screenshots look really nice too. I like the way the music flows. This is definitely getting added to my collection!

|Look lame to me! The only thing that can beat guitar hero is rock band, not this crap.

|It's kind of cool how they mix songs together like that, but I don't like the graphics on it at all.

|yea...because as everybody knows, guitar hero/rock band is all about the graphics

|They look better than those...I don't care about the graphics in the background. It is the graphics on the guitar neck that bother me.
