New iPod Shuffle Set to Arrive Nov. 3

Apple said Tuesday that it planned to release the second-generation iPod Shuffle on Nov. 3, which is thought to be the world's smallest MP3 player at just a half a cubic inch in volume and weighing in at a half an ounce. The player has a 1-gigabyte capacity and retails for $79 USD. Originally announced in September, the player began shipping to pre-order customers Monday.
The cause of the delay is unknown, however it looks as if the new Shuffle will be the last new iPod before the new year and Macworld 2007. "The new iPod shuffle completes our all-new lineup of iPods for this holiday season and beyond, and we hope it's going to be a huge hit," Apple worldwide marketing vice president Greg Joswiak said.
It took them over a month to ship this thing? That's unlike apple with the iPods.
Seems they dropped the ball on this one.

|They should have. I see a lot of ppl with nano, but for this, I think they should just drop it.

|I can see the market for it. The biggest one I hear is for those who bike or workout, and like the included clip, and obviously don't mind the lack of screen.
Irrelevent to me though.

|Here's an idea sure to confuse everyone.
Instead of whining and ranting here over what platform you prefer, how about simply buying (or not buying) the unit that works best for you and not worrying what the other guy likes.
I can only imagine the melee at Baskin Robins as the horde tells others what flavor of ice cream they should buy instead of simply enjoying the flavor they like.
Regarding the market aspects of the iPod, Apple is introducing it at an opportune time relative to the holiday season.

|Perhaps because we still see a lot of improvement in the marketplace for these players.
Zune looks like a great idea with poor execution [regarding the wireless].
I won't buy an apple product because I refuse to use quicktime and/or itunes. Both these products are bloatware and I refuse to allow on my machine. I never buy music, I never rip from CD's, just give me a simple interface to sync with my machine(s).
Score: 0
|Buy what you want. I don't feel the convenience justifies the cost for low fi music.
Regarding Zune, it is not getting wireless as first reported, but ironically the iPod will be. And the iPod is not limited to Quicktime (an insideous alien plot!) nor to itunes - it is simply optimized for it.
The fact is, the average consume who does buy these overpriced toys doesn't really care.

Instead of yelling and throwing tantrums like a 2 year old when we all obviously offend your vastly superior intellect, why don't you just go somewhere else where your kind of arrogant, self righteous, self absorbed, condescending attitude can be appreciated? Oh wait..thats right...you really AREN'T that smart.

And he was yelling and throwing tantrums how? It looked like to me he was making a comment that was in no way whatsoever derogatory or demeaning to anyone. Other than the sarcasm in the first sentence he came off alot more mature and less condescending than other people.

|out of curiousity where do you get your info that zune is not getting wireless? because I cant find one site that says it isnt...it will have the ability (either already built in or upgradeable by firmware) but not at first because until it gets some kind of marketshare its rather pointless..and will have firmware updates rather then having to buy a new one every 6 months and it will be able to sync with other users just not intially buying music or pc sync at launch

|the functionality is much less than originally expected, and it will launch without the ballyhooed Live Anywhere functionality. Three plays over a 3 day period is not significant functionality.
"you can share a full-length track with a friend, and they've got three times to listen to it over a three day period, after which they can flag the song for purchase on the Zune Marketplace -- unless they're an unlimited "Zune Pass" subscriber, of course."

And regarding iPod, all I know is that Apple and possibly XM and AT&T are evidently working on WiFi streaming and other wireless enhancements that far exceed the Zune's reported capabilities.

But as I already mentioned, buy the one that suites your needs and budget. They are all too limited in scope for my needs.

|So that's your evidence? A patent filing?
Apple files patents left right and centre; most of them don't come to anything, but they're a good way of keeping the fans in a permanent state of excitement.
When they come up with something you can buy, then I'll believe it.

|Yeah, when folks like you post opinion as fact and posit emotional 'my platform is the only platform allowed because I like it - regardless of what works for others' I disagree. Regardless of the platform pushed. And if you havn't noticed, I haven't asked for your permission mom.
To the degree that you fail to discuss market strategy and technological developments and instead choose to post emotional whines about MS vs Apple vs Linux or XBox vs PS3 or to posit hearsay political opinion posing as hard science I will criticize it if I choose.
Evidence the personal attacks devoid of any hard content above. The crowd that lives on stolen MP3s, anti-DRM rants, and video games is certainly angry today!

|The only one posting emotional whines about MS vs Apple has been YOU over the past several weeks. You seem to like having these imaginary arguments with people. It's become blatantly obvious just how juvenile you are and yet you persist in the endless name calling trying to get your flawed points across, much like a school yard kid who doesn't realize how infantile he sounds.
Your protestations about how smart you are and how more mature you are then others on this forum fall flat when we read your immature rants....which is about every other post.

Same request, show me where I do such things.

1) You just proved my point,
2) I was informing the prior poster why Arakiel would jump to the conclusion you were trolling.
