No Wait for 'GTA IV' on Xbox 360

By Nate Mook | Published May 10, 2006, 1:02 PM

Microsoft announced at E3 in Los Angeles Tuesday that it has inked an agreement with Rockstar Games to make the next title in the controversial Grand Theft Auto series available for the Xbox 360 on day one. Sony previously had first access to GTA for the PS2.

Xbox 360 users will also get exclusive downloadable content for "GTA IV" via Xbox Live. The content will not be available on any other platform, Microsoft said. "Gamers can’t wait to play 'Grand Theft Auto IV' in high definition on Xbox 360, and we couldn't be more excited to have the title on our platform from day one," commented Microsoft Interactive Entertainment head Peter Moore.

Major coup for the G man!The only place to play Halo 3 and GTA IV is the 360. Hopefully a price drop will coincide with the ps3 and I'm IN!

downloadable content. whoopty-doo. They're f'ing idiots if they can't make that game an online game by now. How can you not see the potential for online GTA? I tried it with the hacks for the PC and it was fun. But it hasn't really gone anywhere to be fully playable - it needs to be part of the game. We'll see...

Yep, all that bad press really put a dent in Rockstar's reputation. Sheesh..how will they top their previous stunts? Hiding porno MPEGs in the data files? Oops, shouldn't give them any ideas..

PC first would make me happy. I hope that the wait to come to PC wont be longer.

If Microsoft can continue with exclusive content available via xbox live, then they will really have an advantage over Sony.

Yes...but a pretty big IF. I'm starting to think Wii has a good chance of beating them both, honestly, after seeing some of the E3 conference from yesterday on streaming video. Who knows?

As far as a console goes, I agree with Wii being much better.

Their problem is their past, they've come off as more of a system aimed at little kids. Their marketing isn't the best. People having been talking about Xbox 360 and PS3 for awhile, but offline I have yet to hear anyone speak of Wii.

I doubt it. While it's less expensive, I think it tends to appeal to a younger audience. It's been awhile since I've liked more of Nintendo's games than other Microsoft or Sony.
