Office for Mac set to ship next month
By Ed Oswald | Published December 12, 2007, 11:14 AM
The long wait for a new version of Microsoft Office for the Mac OS X platform is just about over, with development of the suite completed.
Microsoft said the code was released to manufacturing Tuesday night, and an official launch is set to occur at Macworld Expo in January. The new version of Office ends a nearly four year wait for the software.
Users will have the option of purchasing the software in three different versions: the Home and Student Edition for $150; a standard edition for $400 --though an update version will be available for $240-- and a Special Media Edition for $500, with the update setting the user back $300.
All versions include World, Excel, and PowerPoint. The standard version adds Entourage, and the Special Media Edition adds Expression Media.
Those purchasing Office 2004 between now and the release of Office 2008 will be allowed to request a copy of the Special Media Edition for only the price of shipping and handling through the "Super Suite Deal."
The article is in error. ALL versions include Entourage:

At times you do not make any sense at all, Tool. For instance, others berate a product and you refer to them as trolls. You berate a product and you are not a troll? Can you tell me how that makes sense that you can and they cannot?

|There's a difference between criticizing a product for actual flaws and spreading misinformation and lies about it.
I can state facts such as: You can say Ubuntu will play many Windows games all you want, but the most popular MMORPG by all counts (WoW), plays like a** on it, even after editing a mess of config files.
That is not a troll. It is documented fact. Search Ubuntu and WoW on Google. You'll see the steps needed to get it working in the most basic sense.
El Dingo and his buddies post: Windows Vista sucks because of it's Media DRM.
This is an attempt to get people to think that Microsoft is forcing DRM down people's throats, and is misinformation at best. Vista contains support for DRM media types. It does not provide the mechanism for applying DRM itself, which is the implied conclusion the Trolls wish people to make.
They can berate products all they want, as will I when I feel such is needed. I'll let anyone who cares be the judge of who can back up their claims and who is just trolling, but I will also call it as I see it.
I do not recall ever saying they couldn't troll if that is how they get their kicks. Can you show me where I said that?

|M$ Vista sucks for many reasons...
*) DRM infects its every orifice
*) said DRM infection makes it perform poorly
*) It is very unstable
*) limited driver support
*) Which SKU?
BTW - you are a troll. Everyone is laughing at you

|LOL! LOL! and LOL! again. Please tell me no one here is retarded enough to by this garbage. Let me save anyone here the money if you're considering this crapware, instead just head right on over to NeoOffice's website. NeoOffice is far more intuitive, feature rich and is free!

|more to the point...who wants office on a Mac? that would imply "work" and lets be serious here...Mac users can't be bothered to put their lattes down and hoodies back, long enough to do something like "work".

Yeah and I guess Mac users can actually afford Macs, iPods and iPhones by avoiding "work". LOL. Fact of the matter is, Most Mac users are simply in higher disposable income brackets and I don't think they're all dope dealers. ^--^ Get a clue son and stop being jealous and switch to a Mac.

|OpenOffice may work well on a Mac but I'd recommend to anyone looking for an Office alternative on a Mac to try NeoOffice instead. It's much more native to the Mac environment, faster and more features. NeoOffice is simply the best office suite on a Mac. OpenOffice requires x11 and NeoOffice does not. The most recent version, 2.2.2 which was released on October 10th of this year is simply amazing. Too good to be free.
