Physician Tapped to Head Google.org

By the Betanews Staff | Published February 22, 2006, 11:44 AM

Google has selected Larry Brilliant, former CEO of wireless firm Cometra Networks and renowned physician, to head up its Google.org philanthropic arm. Dr. Brilliant will become Executive Director of the organization, which has been promised 1% of Google's annual profit and 1% of its stock, currently valued at $1 billion.

Brilliant has spent much of his career in the public health sector, battling smallpox and blindness in the 1970s and 80s. Cometra, a joint venture between Intel, IBM and AT&T, closed in 2003. It is expected that Brilliant will focus on health issues, which he says are critical to conquering poverty.

I was using their AdWords and they started out at .10 cpc then they blocked all of my words and said I had to raise it to .20 cpc and the next day they blocked all my words again and said that I needed to make it a $1.00 cpc to use any of my words. Now that is a scam and a rip off.

I don't think anybody has a problem with that. I do have a problem, though, with 11-year-olds making posts on news stories that they can't even comprehend, though. In fact, I'd go so far as to say it's quite annoying.
