Sirius Awards Stern With Large Stock Payment

Sirius' recent successes are working to the benefit of shock jock Howard Stern. The satellite radio provider said on Tuesday that it had awarded him 22.1 million shares, valued at $82.9 million. The award of stock comes after the company again surpassed pre-Stern subscriber targets, a requirement for the awarding of stock as per his contract. Before Stern, the company had only projected 3.5 million subscribers by the end of last year. They finished the year with over six million.
Since the signing of Stern, Sirius's growth has been explosive, growing from just 600,000 subscribers. In 2005, shortly before he came on the air, he and his agent Don Buchwald were awarded 34.4 million shares for exceeding guidance at the end of that year. The targets have not been made public.
we should not be patronizing howard stern. He doesn't deserve the credit.

|I don't know one person who listens to Howard, and these people wonder why Sirius and Xm aren't profitable.
They need to fire all the "DJ's" who yap in between songs and play the music non stop.
Luckily my XM and Sirius are house accounts or I'd cancel them both.

|So what?....
This only demonstrates the worthlessness of Satellite radio at the moment as an entertainment medium. I guess you listen to Oprah, Dylan, Oprah's greenkeeper, hairdresser, etc and every other bore who has a satellite gig these days.
You should listen rather, subscribe to Phil Hendrie if you know what's good for you.

|I listen to Howard also. And after he's done for the day, I switch between the rock channels. All the other talkers are idiots. My co-worker brought in her Serius radio last year, so I don't subscribe. At first I thought Sat radio was a joke. Why would I pay for something I can get for free. Well, let me tell you, the DJ's on Sirius are a bore, but the one's on "free FM" are retarded (at least in my city). And the commercials. I'm actually considering getting a sub at home. But not for a while. I still get the music through my Dish Network.

|There's about 12 million people who think that there are compelling reasons to pay for Satellite radio.
Ever since i got Sirius, I havent changed the FM station on my car stereo. When my battery died and I lost my presets, the only 2 i put in were one for the FM transmitter, and one for my local traffic station.
The names of people who have shows are really just a way to draw people in. Its the selection of music that keeps you subscribed. (and the fact that if you travel alot you never have to worry about finding new local stations as they fade in and out of clarity)

|The funniest part about this is that Howard is no longer a shock jock. He's just as rude, crude and socially unacceptable as all the other kooks on the radio.
To try and drum up business, they announce that they gave him a huge amount of "paper" money. It's all funny money (like most stock) because there's no way he could unload it all. Their stock price would drop in the crapper, so it looks good in the press, but it's just a nice gesture.

|82.9 million? Did Howard stop WW3? Did he create world peace? Is he the ruler of his own country? No, he's just some guy with a low IQ who talks on the radio and does nothing for the common good, and he gets 82.9 million for it. This is an amazing world we live in these days.
Howard was great back in the day. But today, all he does is interview porn stars. This is radio! Who wants to listen to porn stars with their bird brains? Porn stars should be watched, not listened to. I stopped listening to him years ago when his content dried up. I can't believe he still has so many listeners. There must be ALLOT of perverts out there.
