AT DIGITAL EXPERIENCE Blinkx gave BetaNews a demonstration of its upcoming broadband television service at a press event in New York City on Wednesday night. Slated to arrive in Fall 2007, the company hopes to incorporate its strengths in video search into an IPTV offering much like Joost.
However, where Joost only aggregates broadband video content, Blinkx’s service aims to help the user have a more immersive experience, chief marketing officer Julia Blystone explained to BetaNews. Scroll down to get a sneak peek at this new service.
We’ll have more on BBTV in a future report.
BBTV will use peer-to-peer streaming in order to deliver the videos to the user. The dynamic channel interface would allow the user to view any show at any time.
Like we mentioned previously, BBTV will incorporate features available in Blinkx's video search product. One of these features is its video indexing capabilities. The user would be able to search the speech track of a show. Blystone used the example of Talladega Nights, where a user could search for every occurrence of Ricky Bobby saying “shake and bake,” or for their favorite search in a show or movie, such as Spiderman 2.
Another feature of the application would be contextual ad placement. Since the service would be provided at no cost, these ads would help to subsidize the cost. In this example, a video on Nassau in the Bahamas has triggered a contextual ad for Expedia.
If you hurry, you may still be able to find the last Family Pack upgrade editions hanging around retail store shelves, but probably not so much online.
Although there will be an Intel component this month that can compute and plot in parallel, Betanews was told today, it won't be based on Project "Larrabee."
The game's simple concept and multitude of platforms and puzzles manage to pull off a retro, 8-bit style that's reminiscent of an old Atari game given a modern makeover.
If you think you can market your products and services online as though you're selling car batteries in the middle of halftime, think again. And again.
