Vista Edition of Halo 2 Delayed Due to Nudity
By the Betanews Staff | Published May 29, 2007, 2:30 PM
Hoping to avoid a "Hot Coffee" type incident, Microsoft said Friday that it is delaying the Vista release of Halo 2 to the first week of June, approximately two weeks behind schedule. At issue is the discovery of partial nudity in one of the scenes within the game, the company says. The issue is not easily found during game play, and has since been fixed.
The rating on the game will not change as the first run of discs are the only ones to include the content. A warning label will be placed on those discs, and a patch made available to remove the offending content. Subsequent shipments would have the patch pre-applied at the factory.
Believe it or not, there are a few people over 18 that buy video games.

|Sounds like a half a$$ed excuse to me. I mean, at best they have some random texture or something in there that (OMG) someone might take advantage of. Too bad inevitably someone will make a "nude patch" anyways.
How do you even begin to compare something as pathetic as this to the "Hot Coffee" which had coded/animated "sex scene" that was created by the authors themselfs.
"Hot Coffee" incident my a$$.

Amusing how a topic like this turns into a bunch of uncontrollable political puking. Enough already.

Anyways getting back to what we're SUPPOSE TO BE COMMENTING ABOUT, I agree that 2 months delay to fix one stupid error that has a naked butt on it is a bit harsh and/or dumb.
It'd really stink to be the developer if the pic was of HIM showing his butt, because, well, it's kind of easy to figure out who that is if they needed. I mean, come on they have him red handed ... or bare-assed as the case may be ;P

|Partial nudity? WTF? Also lets get something straight the whole "hot coffee" incident was a full fledged mini game in a bigger game based on street violence performing sexual acts and actually getting scored on how well you do. How can they compare that to a "partial nudity" in a cut scene for this game? I just don't get it.

|Thanks for the interpretation, but it sounds to me like he is. People are so hard up on putting America down, how can you not take that as a cheap shot? I do agree with how our censorship is pathetic, though.

|Sure, if you take his post in the context of the parent post, but I still disagree. And it should be obvious why. He depicts a number which resembles that of the Iraqi war, he doesn't say "in a game", and how is it NOT okay to kill thousands -in a game- when it's JUST A GAME? How is that limited to an American mentality?

|I don't get it either.
When I was in my early teens or even slightly younger, I remember seeing topless scenes on TV on many movies after 9 or 10pm. And this was on regular public channels over the air.
I also don't remember people being so uptight, quick to sue and kids bringing guns to school killing people.

Electoral votes, yes. The popular vote, no. Don't ask, it doesn't make much sense to me, either.
@TheSlasher: Maybe so, but thanks for sharing your own mentality.
@Heero: Instead, try naming another country that doesn't have ridiculous laws and stupid people.

I see it that groups tend to rally more when they are against something. These groups will get much more attention then the groups that are for an other cause. It seems that if the media can turn something into a three ring circuis that is just what they will do. The bottom line is people that support a cause don't take to the streets like a group that is opposed to something. I sope that helps. Sorry for the confusion.

IMHO the primary reason they installed the patch was to prevent bad publicity that may have resulted in lower sales to younger kids. A parent who might otherwise purchase the game for their child under the age of 17 may feel less inclined to do so once they hear the word "nudity" in reference to the game.
They are not going to care if it's a "rare occurence". All the parent hears is partial nudity.
