Wal-Mart: Sen. Edwards, Wait in Line for PS3
By Ed Oswald | Published November 16, 2006, 7:01 PM
It doesn't seem to even matter if you were a former United States Senator, the rules are just the same in attempting to obtain a PlayStation 3: wait in line like everybody else. At least that's what national retailer Wal-Mart is telling Sen. John Edwards.
Edwards, who is widely believed to be preparing to announce plans to form an exploratory committee to run for president in 2008, apparently directed one of his aides to attempt to secure a PS3 from a Wal-Mart store in Raleigh, N.C.
The manager must have declined, a statement by Wal-Mart seems to suggest. However, Sen. Edward's later actions angered the company enough that they decided to publicly make light of the Senator's actions.
According to Wal-Mart, Edwards told a conference call of union supporters "a homespun story" of how his son chided a fellow student over his support of the discount retailer. Wal-Mart has been accused of being anti-union, and several unions are spearheading efforts to boycott the store.
It's not clear if the retort may be politically motivated: according to liberal buying guide BuyBlue, 78 percent of the company's political donations are to Republicans, while only 22 percent has gone to Democrats.
"While the rest of America's working families are waiting patiently in line, Senator Edwards wants to cut to the front," the company said in a statement.
"While we cannot guarantee that Sen. Edwards will be among one of the first to obtain a PlayStation3, we are certain Sen. Edwards will be able to find great gifts for everyone on his Christmas list - many at Wal-Mart's 'roll-back prices,'" it continued.
No word on whether the Senator plans to take up Wal-Mart on its gracious offer.
I'm just glad Wal-Mart told him to pound sand up his arse.

|This is the same John Edwards who campaigned for vice-president and AGAINST the anti-union cheapskate WAL*MART chain stores in up state New York and beyond.
Now a HYPOCRITE approaches these same Republican capitalist pigs, in an attempt to buy the cheapest PlayStation 3 console on the retail market. And just like the other corrupt politicians, sleazy Mr. Edwards wants special treatment, not granted to the little people camping outside in parking lots and freezing their @sses off...

|John Edwards did NOT ask his aide to try to get the PS3 for him. Mrs. Edwards mentioned in conversation with John that she would like to get a PS3 for their children for Christmas. A staff person who was present during the conversation mentioned it to the aide. The aide then went out and attempted to get a PS3 to give to the Edwards for their children without asking anyone if they wanted him to do so. He did not get permission to do this from the Edwards, and did not have permission to use the former Senator's name in his attempt to get the PS3.

|So Edwards threw one of his hard-working volunteers under the bus to make himself look good. Of COURSE he didn't want this to happen. Of COURSE the volunteer did this on his own.
Does he honestly expect us to believe that? Yes, he does. He thinks we are all mindless idiots.
Guess what Sen. Edwards, we don't believe you.

|Another of many stories typical of the "Do as I say, not as I do" liberals like Sen. Edwards.
A while back, the WSJ reported on how Sen. Edwards who actively promoted the idea of higher taxes to the american public as a social duty declined to pay his share of Medicare taxes through some nice legal slight of hand (he being a lawyer with some $30 million in earnings). Instead of paying the estimated $600k to $800k of Medicare taxes if he reported his earnings as ordinary income, he instead incorporated himself and had all his earnings go to the corporation rather than directly to himself. Thus he conveniently escaped having to pay all those troublesome Medicare taxes that the majority of Americans are saddled with. Of course, this is all legal but is it morally justifiable given his liberal tax and spend attitude? You be the judge. It's just interesting that when liberals are faced with actually paying out of their own pocket they act suspiciously like all the other people they claim to be so superior to. I applaud Walmart who have done more making products affordable in the US than the liberals will ever do for calling Sen. Edwards bluff.

Probably because Republicans and Walmart both agree that the general public shouldn't have choice.

|I guess there really are Two Americas, Senator Edwards- one where the rest of us wait in line, and the other where elites like you cut in line adn get the goods.
The only reason Edwards and the other do-gooder liberals are mad at Wal-Mart is that people save money and have greater buying power, and it's something the government didn't give them.

|I've never heard of a corporation going out of its way to make a corporate-wide PUBLIC STATEMENT about a private citizen, or any customer. Pretty scary hatchet job considering that Wal-Mart gives 88% of its lobbying money to repubs and has been caught year after year hiring illegal aliens and not paying them on the books. Will we see a story where George Bush was turned away at a liquor chain someday?
Edwards' job these days is being a multimillionaire; he doesn't work. And if his aide called the store and using Edwards' name, then he wouldn't be standing in line, would he?

|Sen Edwards, this is my formal request you do the following.
1) Support our troops, provide them resources to win this war and get them home soon.
2) Support our President so he can continue to help this country become better by lowering taxes and ect.
3) Stop trying to pull the weight of a US Senator position on poor little Wal-Mart, the americans that put you into office, work and shop at Wal-Mart and we don't appreciate that kind of hog wash.
Did I mention I think you should stop trying to worry about making money to become President and do your freaking job?
Thanks,

And they are better equiped than any army in history, they dont need our support. They have all the resources to win, providing it was a contemperary war, which it isnt, thus they cannot win. Personnally i am sick of seeing our tax dollars go towards fighting when it could go to a more worthy cause. Note that i am not going to state what a worthy cause is as we all have our own ideas what is worthy but there are plenty of things that could be more productive, other than blowing the s*** out of an already beat to hell country.
