RSSWindows 'Longhorn' To Succeed XP?

In a surprise change to its Windows strategy, Microsoft is considering pushing back the release of Blackcomb, and instead following up Windows XP with an interim operating system currently dubbed 'Longhorn'. First reported by eWeek, Longhorn will not contain the .NET-centric core the software giant had planned for the next version of Windows. Blackcomb was initially slated for a late 2002 release, but Microsoft officials now concede even Longhorn may not hit that mark.
It is unclear what will become of Blackcomb, which is currently in early stages of alpha testing, or why a decision was made to postpone its release. Although, Microsoft Vice President Jim Allchin told eWeek the decision had nothing to do with the ongoing antitrust case, suggesting .NET simply may not have been ready.
With Windows XP set to complete beta testing next month, Microsoft is likely to clue in testers to the future of Windows at that point. If the software giant has indeed settled on a more modest upgrade to Windows XP, chances are that all current testers will be asked to participate in the new Longhorn beta as well.

The typical LinSux user is likened to the star of "That's Pat" the androgynous freak that graced the TV Screens of people worldwide on the famed Saturday Night Live. If you all remember, Pat had glasses 4 inches thick, a freakish looking afro type hairstyle and pants pulled up to it's chest/breast? Then there was the laugh, that irritatingly wonderful laugh (Hnnnn hnnnn hnnnn hnnnn) that was unforgetable! Pat was most likely the result of a catastrophic failure when Linus first attempted to splice LinSux code with a human gene! LOL! The few LinSux freaks that I have had the extreme displeasure to meet have the following characteristics:
1) Green Teeth
2) Bad Breath (bad enough to knock a buzzard off a dead carcass)
3) Greasy Hair
4) Grimy Fingernails (from months of typing with spooge residue on KB)
5) Body Odor (see # 2)
6) Coke Bottle Glasses (see # 4) LOL
7) Drives a Renault Le Car
8) Stained Coffee Mug with screenprint of Pat
9) Ashtray piled with butts to the ceiling
10) Used Dockers from Salvation Army
11) Autographed Framed Picture of Chairman Mao next to 486 PC
12) Stained I Love Pat T-Shirt
13) Worn Pocket Protector (see # 12)
14) Oops I pooped my pants. LOL !!!!!
15) 5 year old snot hanging from left nostril
Etc, Etc, Etc..........

LinSux needs a catch phrase BAD so I have one for you.....

You know finally someone with a clue showed up on betanews. The sad truth is that all those linux fanatics are just a pain in the ass, trying to over throw the software world with there piece of s*** rhetoric of we will make a better OS a faster OS a cleaner coded OS and mostly an easier to use OS!, it seems to me like communists overthrowing the russian monarchy. And lets not forget what happened there, about a 100 years of oppression. The simple fact is until linux becomes a much better OS and by that I mean that it wont be absolutely dire to compile your kernel every few weeks or so with the latest ****ing bug you will find in it and believe me there's one discovered every second, and becomes a pleasure to install as well it being an OS even a 4th grader can use then linux will be just a GNU alternative for the truly bored and annoying. Dont get me wrong I use BSD for work related projects simply for the fact that they are much better then any MS os when it comes to being a SQL server or Web Server ect.. but at home I am proud to run my W2k SP2 , you know why? because I dont like to sit down with a pack of cigarettes and make menuconfig for hours at a time, I have better things to do with MY time.

sites like slashdot and the register continually bash on microsoft but then all the register does is post MS news... i dont get it. if i dont like something, i stay away from it if possible.

You see kid, I'm a linsux user, but I also use that sh..prog named windows, and I'm a longhaired teeth brushing hard rock freak, and the only thing who stinx here is you with all your craptalk, the only reason why you come up with such an amazing bunch of craptalk, is that you don't have the brain, to use a brilliant system like Linux and last but not least you don't get a more stable system than Linux.

The beta 3 versions of the clients are being released as retail products, but the development of XP/2002 goes on. I was already expecting another client release when the servers go gold, and I have a feeling this is exactly what "Longhorn" is.

I can hear B_org's Longturd speech now... "Longturd represents a milestone in M$ history. It is a better, more reliable, stable, prettier, sweeter and it is a much rounder turd than we have ever squeezed out in the past. As you know in the past, every single build digit of "enhancement" we make to our Turd's will cost you $1.00 each. Like in or predecessors Windows 2000 build 2195 and XP build 2505, there is $310 worth of "upgrades" there. What we are truly happy for this time, is that with Longturd (did I mention how wonderful this turd is?) is only build # 2590, but we will now make each build number cost to YOU $100 each and I can assure you, no better turd can be gotten, even from us.
We know we are not Linux and we continue to bad mouth, attack and even steal as much FreeBSD source code as we can get away with. After all, the first word is "FREE" and we are getting there, TCP/IP stack, by stack. But we won't let you down this time and this time we [pr0ml53]! (spelling changed in the word [promise] for legal reasons). I now ORDER you to run out and buy this "upgrade" and some day soon, we will have a real turd. Not just another "upgrade" to fill our pockets and screw you over, but something you can really be happy with and call Linux, like I always pr0ml53d (again, changed blah, blah.)... Now GO! buy, buy, buy, I B_org have spoken!"

Apparently part of the new "easier updates" feature is a process that runs from Windows bootup, called loadqm.exe ("QMgr Loader" / "background queue manager"), and takes a nice 5 MB bite of ram! Luckily this thing (ms spyware? lol) can be prevented from loading by deleting its entry in the run section of the registry.

Yes, really! Will all you folks stop complaining about Microsoft's OS's. I think they've been doing a pretty decent job lately. Win 2000 was great. I only have 2 complaints: activation, and the cost of the OS. (Although I don't really know how much it costs to make one... I would have to see that info to judge for certain.)
And I'd love Linux if it came even close to being what Windows is. But, it sucks for most uses. (And, I'm a computer guy.)
