Xbox 360 sells 10 million in US, Wii not far behind

While Microsoft is tooting its own horn over having the first console to sell 10 million units in the US market, Nintendo's own isn't far behind and is still gaining on the Xbox.

The Xbox 360 has been out for a full year longer than its two rivals, Nintendo's Wii and Sony's PlayStation 3. The milestone 10 millionth sale was reached apparently this week.

"History has shown us that the first company to reach 10 million in console sales wins the generation battle. We are uniquely positioned to set a new benchmark for the industry," Interactive entertainment chief Don Mattrick said.

Nintendo's Wii is not all that far behind -- data as of March showed the console had sold 8.8 million units, more than double that of the PS3, which has only sold 4.1 million consoles since its launch.

Globally, around 19 million consoles have been sold, with 12 million gamers using its Xbox Live online gaming service. Microsoft also touts its eight-to-one advantage over the PS3 in games selling one million or more copies.

Screw em all. I have the Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360. I have more games for the Xbox and one game for the PS3. Wii is for my 8 yo...but screw em all...I am now a uber geek and my PC is my friend. Yep, I discovered WoW and what a good game it is...lvl 55 shadow priest. Woohoo. Ok, that enough of that. Seriously...buy what you like and play what you like...no need to bash each other.

leave it to MS to make a huge deal about reaching 10 million in the US, yet they forget to mention that everywhere else in the world both the Wii AND the PS3 have caught and passed them in sales...

Apparently some of you haven't played the Wii. Its not mean for little kids, nor is it boring. So the graphics are more cutesy, but it doesn't change the experience.
People have different tastes, and for me I don't care for FPS and realistic graphics, I prefer a game that I can play and have fun doing it and it isn't overly complicated.
Yes I'm older, but dissing it simply because it isn't for you automatically cancels out your opinion.
I love the look of Xbox360, but the games just aren't for me but it doesn't mean its an expensive piece of crap to me. It just doesn't fit my needs.

WTF!?!?!?!?!

Who let this guy in???

Since when is someone expected to have personal experience or knowledge about a subject prior to posting their patently biased fanboy nonsense?

I mean, there Are standards here! Granted they are Very Very low...(after all, one must be able to reach a keyboard)...but its a standard nonetheless!!!

Funny... I was thinking the same thing when I read your post: Who let this guy in, indeed?

Your continued posting of derogatory remarks against others on this forum is apparently a testament to your so-called "low standards" here.

Have you ever positively contributed to any article on this site without unjustifiably insulting someone else... or simply positively contributed at all?

You have yet to prove that you have the ability to offer something useful to any discussion... an ability you repeatedly claim everyone else lacks.

It's very simple, 480 vs 1080 lines of resolution. I'm sure the 360 and the PS3 have at least 100 times the graphics capability of the Wii.

That being said, it is a fun console but you can tell they went out of thier way to make it "Hello Kitty" cute. The bowlers have spheres for arms and no legs for crying out loud. The Wii is in another class entirely.

The people who's only console is the Wii have to stop pretending they wear big boy pants. If you are looking for the best multiplayer online experience, get a 360. If you don't care too much about getting online with your console and are interested in Blu-Ray, get a PS3.

I haven't been able to play Burnout Paradise online once with the PS3 ... not once. There are connection problems through PSN, etc...

The PS3 browser works great however and you can download files directly to a USB drive. The Wii's browser is funky and feels like Fisher Price designed the whole thing.

Halo graphics are very poor, wait!!! I own a elite360.. so unlike you, I can talk about both systems, yes, i also own a ps3....

ps3 has no good games? wow, can i assume again you do not own a ps3.. "warhawk, metal gear solid, haze, uncharted, etc." lol

i LOVE my 360, but i love my ps3 more!!

wii def is for kids or for adults that dont like real games.

And what exactly do you consider a "real game". That's why we have choices. I enjoy a variety of genres myself, from RPGs like Final Fantasy, to FPS games like Call of Duty and Team Fortress, to group games like Mario Party and racing games like Mario Kart and Burnout.

I don't like Halo, or World of Warcraft, and quite a few other games.

To say that the Wii is for people who don't like "real games" is not a fair statement. It's not even an accurate or sensible statement.

"The Wii doesn't have any games available that I enjoy", or "The games I like are on the PS3 and 360", that I can understand. When you say something isn't a "real game" just because it's something you're not interested in doesn't really cut it.

X-box 360 is great value for your money and tons of great games. WII is cool if you are 4 years old . The PS3 is by far the biggest piece of monkey crap and has no good exclusive games, MGS4 cmon you guys that game will be boring. All hail Halo. im outy!!!

i'm sorry that your not old enough to have a good job yet.. sorry that you think halo is worth talking about!

I think halo is fun, i do own it :-) "adrian97c- gamertag" for ps3 also

now, go play warhawk is blows halo away in every way, graphics being the first mention.. now, go play uncharted.. xbox has not a single game to compete with it..

can you use HDMI for video and componet for audio?? yes, on ps3 and NO for xbox lol that sucks for xbox (i hate that)..

can you save stuff on xbox hardrive...not unless you buy from xboxlive store lol, on ps3 you can save anything to harddrive! :-) sweet huh..

ok now lets talk about your "great value" comment, because thats the biggest mistake you mentioned:

ps3 out of box, chargable controllers...built in wireless, etc.

xbox out of box, get ready to spend money on a charge kit for controller $20, also get ready to spend another $100 for a wireless adapter..

so as I tell all my friends that are looking to buy a game system... if you want to save $$ buy a ps3!!

if you have extra money like me, buy both! that way you dont miss any exclusive, hehe

gears of war, warhawk!!!
