iPhone Updated, UBS Estimates 800,000 Sold This Quarter

Apple on Tuesday released its second software update for the popular iPhone, which has seen sales continue to soar even a month after its debut. Unfortunately, the company is providing few details of what's new in the update, citing only "Bug fixes," but we don't doubt users will rush to upgrade.
Meanwhile, the research arm of UBS said in a note Tuesday that it expects Apple to top its estimated sales of 730,000 iPhones this quarter. UBS says that it expects upwards of 800,000 iPhones to be sold in Apple's fiscal fourth quarter. Still, those numbers should be taken with a grain of salt, as some analysts predicted 500,000 iPhone sales in the first weekend when the numbers ended up around 270,000.
As H. L. Mencken once said:"No one ever lost a dime under-estimating the intelligence of the American people".

So anyone have any idea when the iPhone is coming out in other parts of the world?

Hmmm...
They made it faster and gave it more functionality. Yeah, no technical ability there.
Did you read the thing, or just dismiss it as a "cheap, Chinese, lead-filled knockoff"?

|"If you thought the only thing going for the Meizu MiniOne was the fact that it looks like an iPhone, well, you'd be wrong. The recently released specs show that it's actually got a lot of stuff going for it besides its software design.
The MiniOne will have a 533Mhz Samsung processor, 128MB of DDR SDRAM, TFT touchscreen, 720x480 resolution, 3-megapixel back camera, 0.3-megapixel front camera, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, DMB TV Tuner, GPS, video output, AVI/MPEG4/WMV support, and a 4GB to 16GB size.
The best part? It's only going to be about $260 for the 4GB version and $450 for the 16GB version."
Now THAT is a phone to take note of - no doubt about it. Just goes to show that my prediction that phone companies wouldn't hang around and let the iPhone steal the show was spot on. We will see some really interesting phones coming out in the next 12-18mnths, no doubt about it.

|Wow, the Meizu MiniOne looks great. If it fills a number of the iPhone flaws like, replaceable battery, better phone quality, 3G, voice dail, then I'll certainly buy one.

It's better, hands down. The *only* thing missing is multi-touch zoom.
Making a duplicate knock-off is one thing. Taking an existing product and blowing it away with improvements and features is entirely different.
Get off your fanboy horse for one second and compare the two.

You have to love how pathetic companies like this are...no innovation or engineering talent. All they can do is steal other peoples R&D.

Compare that to the specs of your iPhone, spaz.

Didn't see those on the iPhone. Must have just overlooked that part.
engineering talent.
You're right. Spanking Apple on this one probably took little to no effort or real "talent" at all. These features should have been in the iPhone. Apparently it was obvious to everyone but Apple.
All they can do is steal other peoples R&D.
blahblahblah... They took an existing design and improved it dramatically. It happens all the time. It's called progress. I suppose no-one should have ever improved on the Model T?
Your complete lack of critical thinking skills provide no end of amusement.

The *only* parts of the iPhone that could result in a lawsuit would be the interface and multi-touch. Neither of those made their way to the MiniOne.
Thanks for playing, fanboy. Again, compare the specs side-by-side. The MiniOne wins, hands down.

According to Apple 270,000 units were sold during first 30 hours, i.e. from 6 p.m. on Friday till Saturday night. This number doesn't include sales on Sunday, 1st of July.

BUT HEY
Lets not forget the reasons why Apple has very limited issues with hardware/software.
A) They only certain manufacturers to produce APPLE certified parts so they can make sure they are near 100% perfect to how they designed their OS. Can't say the same about Others.
B) Apple is marketing to the whole, Reality is the whole is pretty stupid compared to most of us. I laugh at the countless phones my friends have ruined cause they bought the cheaper knock off battery or opened them up and did something stupid to the phone on accident.
imo I hate that it's sealed, but just as the three ipods I have owned over the years, I come to say who gives a s***. The batteries my be more expensive but at least they aren't gonna blow up in your pocket like all the other manufacturers. (knock on wood)
