Movie studio Lionsgate has agreed to begin selling its movies on Apple's iTunes Store, joining Disney and Paramount and bringing the number of available films up to 400. "Terminator 2," "LA Story," "Total Recall," and "The Blair Witch Project" are among the 150 movies being offered by Lionsgate this month for $9.99.
Lionsgate is a top independent movie studio, and holds a library of over 10,000 films. "We're delighted to offer these incredibly popular Lionsgate films on iTunes, and look forward to adding even more films in the future," remarked Steve Beeks, president of Lionsgate. "iTunes lets users download these wonderful films to watch on their computer, TV or iPod."
I love this site!
First we make a reference to a comment Barnum never made.
And while the complaint regarding the Entire genre is apropos, the fact that Apple is most successful doesn't make them the bad guys.
But to carry the trend one step further, it is humorous to what so many in so many threads laud Windows by virtue of its being the most widely used platform (whoopee!) while these same folks will trash Apple's A/V formats simply because it is the most widely used and it is not up to their lofty standards (which can't be too high if they are satisfied with Windows!).
All this does is to support the contention that it is not the best nor the most elegant platform which succeeds!
But its fun to watch the same argue made against the opposing platform as many trash one while supporting the other while at the same time both are fundamentally flawed by the same premise.
But on the business front, this adds a significant library of material to the iTunes inventory which will provide them just one more advantage - at least for those who actually like and find value in watching movies on something the size of their wallet...

|Well PT Barnum must be alive and well and working for Apple!!! 10 bucks for a crappy copy of a movie you can't even burn or watch on a home theater unless you want a 6" x 6" picture. The world really is full of suckers and Apple knows it!! Hey !! Steve Jobs if this sells you should up the anti for downloaded songs to 99 cent a play instead of per download.
