AT&T to Kick Off Huge Marketing Blitz

In an attempt to reintroduce and breathe life back into the AT&T brand, the company will kick off a massive marketing campaign on News Year's Eve. SBC completed its acquisition of AT&T last month and adopted the name. The campaign is expected to cost up to $1 billion.

British rock band Oasis will provide a theme song for AT&T, and the company's logo will be plastered on billboards, airport signs and television commercials across the United States. In Times Square on New Year's Eve, AT&T will have ads covering the entire sides of buildings.

AT&T's famous slogan "Reach out and touch someone" will be replaced by "Your world, delivered." The new tagline is designed to emphasize the many facets of communication that AT&T handles, including voice over IP. Oasis' song is called "All Around the World."

Blogs will also play a role in jazzing up the AT&T brand. One advertisement will include a view of Earth from space with pictures of individuals communicating, and feature the words "Blogging, delivered."

AT&T will buy up television spots during primetime and for the college bowl games. The first commercial will run during "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve 2006." Print ads will also be included in national newspapers, regional papers and on Web sites.

So the "orange" branded everything Cingular, now its back to att. The fun part is how the two companies fight each other and let the public suffer.
Cingular is terrible at customer service, ATT was worst. Put them together and you have ? They stopped the intregration and now just turn off towers to save money. And force their customers to new Cingular contracts. How? They stopped all Blue handsets being available.

cool huh.. I love Cingular, I sell against them and they just make it easy.

I've used Cingular/AT&T Wireless for about four years and counting. I've never had any dropped calls and I've always had full signal bars every where I go. If you want horrible quality of service go with Sprint's CDMA network or T-Mobile.

Well I've lived in Miami (FL) (Kendall, North Miami Beach, Aventura) and ATT Wireless and Cingular (then called Bellsouth Wireless) SUCKED. I moved to Hollywood, Ft. Lauderdale (FL) and it STILL SUCKED. Not to much the dropping but for some reason people just sounded garbled sometimes and I'd constantly have to be asking them what they said and vice versa....it wasn't the phone, I've always had nice phone. We moved to VA, Alexandria to be exact.
My wife has stayed with the service while I jumped as soon as the contract was done. I went to T-Mobile and I've never been happier. She ofcourse is going to jump this year because guess what? It STILL SUCKS. So I mean, if 20 people say it sucks, and 1 or 2 says it doesn't - sorry, but I can't believe you. Not calling you a liar, but maybe you're living within a mile or 2 of a tower because I tell ya, the service SUCKS. In all honesty, before the ATT->Cingular acquisition, her ATT phone wasn't all that bad. Sure I had better (clearer) service in more places, but she had consistent coverage nonetheless - now she can't walk around the apartment without the call dropping. Lets see what 2K6 brings for these companies. Cingular was greedy as all hell, I'm hoping that something will change somehow.

I live near Portland, Oregon and have full signal bars with Cingular everywhere whether I'm inside a building (commercial or residential) or outdoors. My experience with AT&T's TDMA network was identical. So far, everyone I've seen with T-Mobile has had significant difficulties getting good reception indoors. Personally, I've never experienced a dropped call or poor audio quality on my Motorola V551 phone anywhere in the Portland area.

Cingular's coverage area is virtually identical to or better in some cases than Verizon's coverage area. Until T-Mobile switches to 850 MHz GSM towers completely then they will have the smallest coverage area of any major wireless carrier for some time to come.

Cingular & AT&T = Still bad service and drop calls (if you even had a signal).
SBC & AT&T = Even more bad service and higher rates to offset the Marketing spending.

Does anyone in authority remember that once upon a time inorder to stimulate competition, we broke up AT&T into ATT and 7 baby Bells. Now look wh...at has happened...we have ATT and how many Bells....3 or 4? And the service levels are awful and the competition? This Progress????
