Despite the rumors, AT&T's CFO said Thursday that no pricing has been set for the upcoming 3G iPhone, which is expected to be announced next month at Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference. Rick Lindner, speaking at the Reuters Global Technology, Media and Telecoms Summit in New York, said that no decisions had been made on pricing or availability.

Lindner's comments follow a Gizmodo report on Tuesday that claimed the launch date for the 3G iPhone as June 9. Previous rumors also speculated that pricing of the device would fall from $299 to $199. AT&T has only said that it expects the new model to arrive in the coming months, but Lindner noted it's entirely up to Apple.

Cool. Not reading the article further beyond the headline. Why don't you come back and write one once the pricing *HAS* been set?

Amazing how much power apple has. I don't think i've ever heard of a cell phone provider dictating to the carrier price or availability. But when you do business with apple, take it or leave it. They will just go to the next person who will and help them out.

You know what they say! There's a sucker born every minute. And Apple owns every last one.

I'm not really sure what you're getting at or even where you're coming from. Are you saying AT&T shouldn't exploit the market's desire by carrying the iPhone in their range? Regardless of how they feel about Apple, that's very much cutting off your nose to spite your face. They ARE in it for the money, after all. :p

Personally I can't wait to see local pricing. I reckon $1k isn't out of the question given it will be provided unlocked by all the carriers. The usual rule for Apple products in Australia is take the US price, factor in exchange rate (which is basically dollar for dollar now), add 10% GST and add 50% markup for .
