A national outage affected AT&T's Uverse television service on Sunday, completely knocking out service for several hours, the company confirmed. Early Sunday morning, service was cut completely, although the company was able to restore local channels as well as service to some sports and news channels. Full service was not restored until last night.

As of press time, AT&T was still unsure what caused the outage, and was investigating the origin. Additionally, it said it was looking into customer service issues reported by subscribers as complaints began rolling in. The service has about 100,000 subscribers across 33 markets.

AT&T is continuing to roll out service to new areas, and is hoping that the new venture will help to replace declining revenues in its traditional business: telephone service.

We have signed up for U-Verse programming - to be installed this next weekend. After the announcement of the system being down we are having some reservations.....anyone who has had a favorable or unfavorable experience with AT&T's U-Verse please let us know what we are about to experience. Our sign up at the local AT&T center was an unfavorable experience. Any comments??

I have Uverse, its ok, but its still beta. I didn't even know about the outage until someone told me. I'm just glad they fixed it before prime time when I record stuff.

That would be totally sucky having to rely on their internet servers for your television programming.
