Apple Releases Mac OS X 10.4.10

With Leopard pushed off until October, Apple is continuing to update Mac OS 10.4, with its tenth update to the operating system being released Thursday, including fixes for Bluetooth and USB issues, among others.

The patch is generally smaller than previous ones, with only 13 issues fixed. It also follows an unusual naming convention -- 10.4.10: typically the 10.x.9 upgrade heralded the imminent release of the next version of the OS, which would be 10.5 in this case.

Issues with how Mac OS X handles Bluetooth headsets were fixed, as well as issues with the TomTom GO 910 on Intel-based Macs. USB reliability issues with the IR remote after sleep, and the mounting of external hard drives have also been fixed.

Apple has added native RAW image decoding support for Panasonic DMC-LX1, Panasonic DMC-LX2, Leica M8, Leica D-LUX 2, Leica D-LUX 3, Fuji S5 Pro, Nikon D40x, and Canon EOS 1D Mk III cameras, as well as resolving DNG image issues.

Compatibility with Mathematica 6 on 64-bit Macs has additionally been improved, the company said.

Other fixes include: the responsiveness of the shutdown dialog using Control-Eject; issues with importing video from a DV camera; calendar calculation issues; decimal rounding issues; and issues in Motion that would cause texture corruption if the VRAM is full.

All recent security updates for Mac OS X are also be included with the 10.4.10 release.

I just installed the mac Updates from OS 10.4.9 to 10.4.10 when i restarted my mac only lord knows i should have stayed with 10.4.9. My Logictech fusion quick cam mic does not work I did everything that you can think of even got on the phone with apple tech support which was no help. Now what is all this fuse about how 10.4.10 improving USB issues. what about the USB problem? Who is going to help all thos millions of Mac Mini owners who download mac 10.4.10 updates to find out that their USB web cam is not working. The Web cam built in mic at least. Oh did i mention i am getting an annoying popping sound now. Like my grand mother always said may she rest in peace " if it aint broke don't try to fix it" leave well alone for real. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel for crying out loud.

When will they announce that their OS will be able to be installed in any Intel machines? Don't say never because it is coming!

Of course it's possible, the Mac's *are* PCs.

So you got it running.

Great! Not legally and not well.

To each his own, I suppose.

I'm surprised you don't have 10 on there yet. It's been on the net for at least a week already.

What's this? I have to upgrade my OS to support some camera?

According to their commercials, everything just works with a MAC. Plug it in and you're done. Now I find that it was all a lie and that just like Windows there are drivers that are needed in order to make things work?!!?!?!?!

It's not just any camera, it's a camera that does work with window, Linux or any other OS or computer. But with a Mac just a single upgrade will get it to work. Isn't Apple just wonderful?!! I think I'm gonna run down to the Apple store and buy two Macs right now.
