Creative inPerson Demo

The spotlight item from Creative this year was the inPerson, a WiFi video phone device. The booth at CES was standing-room only, as many were eager to see a demonstration of the inPerson's capabilities.

The inPerson

Despite lackluster demand for video phones in the market, the inPerson demo drew a crowd that rivaled Panasonic's 150-inch HDTV display. Creative hopes its solution will entice people to forgo voice calling for something more futuristic.

The inPerson 2

Featuring a 7-inch screen and H.264 video compression, the inPerson can be used to make video-calls to another device. The configuration relies on the consumer to adopt a VOIP service, but built-in WiFi ensures the user can interact cable-free.

Bah! I was hoping they'd announce a new Zen player, something that would be a true successor to the Vision M. You'd think Charlie Brown was calling the shots.

Creative? They're still in business? Seriously, I gave up on them after the x-fi driver debacles.

Duh. Creative never went out business. Their best know for their ZEN players, which are better than the iPod. They were the ones who invented the iPod's interface.

I agree: Zen > iPod.

And best known for the Zen? Uh, what? Ever heard of a "SoundBlaster"?

Oh, come now! You will be sued by Apple! Apple was very "innovative" with the iPod interface.

Oh come on! Apple hasn't had an original idea since it stole the idea of the GUI from Xerox PARC
