RSSHotmail to Get Storage Bump

BetaNews has learned that Microsoft is expected to begin its rollout of the next version of Hotmail, possibly as early as Wednesday. Code-named "Kahuna," this Hotmail update will sport a new interface, automatic inbox refreshing and a preview pane enabling users to read and respond to e-mail without ever leaving their inbox.
The announcement could come in tandem with unveiling of the beta releases of Internet Explorer 7 and Windows Vista, both of which are expected to be released sometime Wednesday.
Included with the Hotmail upgrade is a bump of the storage space for free users to two gigabytes; several sources told BetaNews they had already seen storage increases in their accounts. The added space would put Hotmail on more equal footing with its competitors. Google's Gmail offers 2GB, as does Yahoo! Mail.
The latest version of Hotmail would also include upgrades to Microsoft's Sender ID technology.
Sender ID has been pushed by the Redmond company as a way cut down on the number of spam messages and phishing attacks flooding customer inboxes. It has received the backing of companies such as America Online, especially following the company's move to make it compatible with competing anti-spam technologies.
Sender ID has already been live in the production version of Hotmail since January of this year.
Recognizing that it is behind in several key areas, Microsoft has engineered the next wave of Hotmail, allegedly referred to as the "competitive wave," in a methodical push to meet or exceed the competition.
i am still stucked on 2 MB. i dont understand what the hell these hotmail people are doing. Last year they announced an increase of storage capacity by 250 MB and still most of the users outside US are just dreaming of it. And now 2GB...............it sucks!!

My hotmail address is my signup address. I make sure to check it every week or so, and pretty much just use it whenever a site needs an addy.

|Still sitting with the 250mb as well. The thing I find most annoying with hotmail, having had this account for approx. 8 yrs, is the spam. At one time I never had it, but this past year has been horrendous...I pretty much only check it now to clear the spam. What annoys me is the limit they have on blocking spam addys. I keep blocking, hotmail keeps deleting the new addys off the block list...grrrrrrrrrr. The only reason I keep it now is because I use it on my msn. I wrote to hotmail re: the removal of the addys from the block list and their solution to this was a joke. I'll stick to my isp mail (coincidently merged with msn) & gmail. Strange how these accounts never have spam at all...must be because it's all going out to the hotmail addys :)

I however have to say that I'm really a webmail addict. I just love Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, and I will hopefully love the new Hotmail.
I have hated Hotmail because of the user interface and also due to the amount of spam. That may be due to the fact that I have a 6 character hotmail address. Who knows :)

|I already have 2000 MB since a month or so ago. I never paid. But still I have the link for billing and everything. When I click the billing link,and login to passport, it says my e-mail address isnt registered as a billing e-mail / premium account. Very wierd. Sorry no offence to guys who pay, but i some how got it all without paying a cent. I havent let Hotmail know about it yet. Hehe.

|He was just stating that he received it a long time ago. The article said some have reported having it already (he may have assumed a recent change closer to a week than a whole month) which seems to be the case for him, but wasnt aware it had taken place a month ago.

|this means you should stop paying because 2 gigs is more than you'll need in a life time, unless e-mail becomes popular for something other than text and images, those comedy movie bits and audio bits you may receive are not needed to be stored in e-mail...
