Macworld attendees want Newber....for their BlackBerry

FreedomVOICE's Newber iPhone application has been in beta since September, but getting listed in the App store has its difficulties.

Last September, FreedomVOICE opened the beta of its Newber iPhone application that adds a virtual second line and the ability to manage calls and route them through PBX, landline, or even other cellular handsets.

The company makes no secret, however, about the headaches of getting listed in the iPhone App Store, there is even a countdown timer on its site titled "Awaiting App Store Approval."

So, as the group waits (the timer has 100 days left on it), they are eager to remind the world that their Blackberry beta is still accepting applicants. The call-switching service can be used as a unique answer to femtocell and UMA, as calls can automatically be switched to another line in areas of poor reception, or can be used in enterprise settings for gathering phone usage statistics. It's a perfect fit for the enterprise superstar BlackBerry.

A Newber representative who spoke to Betanews this afternoon said that interest for the service was very high at Macworld last week...but ironically, more about the BlackBerry than iPhone. He also gave us the word that Newber apps for other smartphone platforms are in the works for the near future.
