RSSMozilla Celebrates 'World Firefox Day'

The Mozilla Corporation celebrated "World Firefox Day" on July 15, three years after the formation of the Mozilla Foundation. As part of the festivities, the company is encouraging its fans to get one person to switch to the alternate Web browser, in exchange for being immortalized in the Firefox 2.0 source code.
Individuals will have until September 15 to encourage a friend to switch. Names will be displayed on a digital "Firefox Friends Wall" at Mozilla headquarters in Mountain View, Calif. In addition, the names will be accessible from within Firefox 2.0, due to launch in the fall, although the company has yet to decide the specifics.
This almost makes me want to give up using Firefox on principle.

But don't you agree that with this "FireFox Day" they are turning many (fanboys) into some kind geek cultists,that is what i think as i have come across many ppl who are obsessed about firefox.
Opera is my default browser but i like Firefox too and i think that it is already very good and there is no need to do such things.

|pretty novel idea if you ask me. will it work? will it raise the market share? who knows. is it lame? yes, am I going to participate? yes :) hehe windows is lame. doesnt stop me from using it. it's little whimsical things likke this that earn a special place in my heart, because with all the haters out there, it's nice to see some company taking an active (though totally useless) step in making light of the software wars :)
