Philips is looking for 100 active beta testers to trial two new portable digital audio players created for use on the run or in the gym. Designed for wear on the arm, the psa[128max will feature 128MB of built-in memory, while the slightly larger psa[cd8 will utilize 8cm CDs that hold up to 50 songs. Both devices will be released under the Nike brand name and sport no-look buttons and smart wire management.
Continuing to build its digital audio arsenal, Philips adds the portable sports audio devices to its already extensive lineup solid-state, CD and home-based MP3 audio players. FM radio and CD audio players are also on the docket for release under the Nike brand.
The application phase for the test begins today and runs until 6:00PM PST on Sunday, August 15, at which time those selected will be notified via e-mail. Testers will be expected to use the product for eight weeks and complete two online questionnaires. The beta test is open to everyone older than 12 years of age.

Well, I was selected for beta-testing a hardware last year, I hope the luck will repeat again ;).
But, to get one thing clear... it is really BETA hardware let me assure! the copy I tested, even though pretty nice, was bugridden. Too bad they don't send you a copy of the final product as well :(

|I'm sure most people could tell that the SonicBlue/Nike relationship had pretty much ended, but I never really thought that Nike would want to continue with MP3 players. The Rio offerings looked good enough. I'm surprised to see them hook up with Philips, whose MP3 players have been pretty much sub-par.

|I received a note from the good 'ol boys @ philips this morning. I have been on their mailing list for some time, but unfortunately, I have never been selected to betatest 'yet' with their hardware. This sounds like a sweet unit. You can get details by going to the website provided and fill out a short survey. Hope I get in this time. (I really wanted the MP3 boombox... oh well...)

|I have also been on their mailing list for quite some time...and have also yet been chosen. The fingers are crossed, I hope that I get chosen for the cd player. I already have a portable mp3 player.
