Photoshop Express update halted before release

An update to Adobe's online-only Photoshop Express beta was expected to be pushed out yesterday, but was removed just before launch due to a last-minute bug that was discovered.

Photoshop Express was launched in beta recently, allowing users to edit photos that users uploaded or cross-loaded from their Facebook, Photobucket, or Picasa albums.

There was a noticeable void in the early version of Photoshop Express where popular photo community Flickr should have been included, but yesterday's scheduled update promised to fill that. It also would have added an embeddable slideshow player and a "Save as" function, allowing multiple copies of an image with different alterations to be saved. However, prior to going live, the Adobe Express team discovered a bug that was serious enough to prevent the rollout.

"[We] don't want to send out an update that isn't ready for prime time," said the Photoshop Express Team.

The team has not disclosed exactly what the effect of this bug was, but has been working on a fix that will allow a timely release of the update. Inquiries to Adobe regarding the nature of the bug and the progress of the fix were outstanding as of press time.

I would still like to see Adobe come out with a Photoshop Express that is installed locally and gives a trimmed down version of their powerhouse PS. Don't know what all I'd trim out, I'd definitely want the ability to add in filters - but something other than the ~$800 price tag would be nice. :)
