cmon lets be realistic here. there is no way that sony will get their proc faster than all of intel's big brains can get their chips and all of nvidia's gpu's.

But think about it would you really want to pay $500 for the PS3? The starting prices for these consoles are outrageous then they start to drop like wildfire.

I believe it. It has a radically different architecture, and doesn't have that "compatibility" issue that computers have. It doesn't have to be backward compatible at all, they can just stuff different processors in there to handle different types of games.

About time! PS2, while currently STILL my favorite console that is still being developed for, is showing its age. This is gonna have to be one hell of a machine to compare with XBox 2 state-wise. I'm being cautiously optimistic though, I still remember all the pre-release hype about PS2 and how powerful it was, and while it is a great machine, it fell short of claims.
