  1. Review - avast! Home

    5.0.104 Beta (Sep 9, 2009)

    At home I have 3 PC's and a server.

Of the 3 PC's, 1 has been running Avast! and the other 2 Avira AntiVir. The onlt computer that has become infected with viruses and damage caused over the past 2 years is the PC running Avast! Avira AntiVir has always caught everything before any damage has been caused, Avast! hasn't.

Now all 3 PC's are running Avira AntiVir and I feel much safer.

Avast! is the next best (free) thing compared to AntiVir though IMHO.

If I was purchasing an Anti Virus program, it wouldn't appear on my list of considerations though.

  2. Review - AntiVir Personal Edition for Windows

    8.1.0.326 (Jul 17, 2008)

The best free anti-virus - full stop!

  3. Review - Mozilla Firefox for Windows (v2)

    2.0.0.15 (Jul 1, 2008)

etalmar: The link was for Firefox 3 and was then changed back to Firefox 2 - that's why I wrote my comments for FF3 here.

  4. Review - Mozilla Firefox for Windows (v2)

    2.0.0.14 (Jun 17, 2008)

I only thing I feel lets it down a tiny bit is the interface - I don't like the buttons on the default theme.

Apart from that; it feels much quicker than Firefox 2 and has some nice new features.

Firefox 3.0 is definitely my browser of choice by quite a margin.

P.S. You can download from FileHippo now: http://www.filehippo.com/download_firefox/

  5. Review - Microsoft Windows Live Writer

    2008 Final (May 29, 2008)

Excellent really - makes it very easy for all users to update their blog(s).

My only criticism is the Windows Live Installer - a stand alone installer would be much better IMO.

  6. Comment - Windows Mobile 6.5 struggles to gain ground against iPhone and Android

    2008 Final (Sep 22, 2009 - 12:38 PM)

Been running Windows Mobile 6.5 (a few different builds) on a couple of handsets for a while. It's better than 6.1 but still not great. Wish I'd gone for the Android option now.

  7. Comment - Exchange Server 2010 Release Candidate available today

    2008 Final (Aug 18, 2009 - 1:26 PM)

    |Had the email first thing this morning but still no download link insight... maybe later or tomorrow. It may even be easier to find a leak and download by torrent.

  8. Comment - Mr. President, this is your BlackBerry upgrade

    2008 Final (Jul 1, 2009 - 8:24 AM)

@dkratter - you're correct - had to look that one up but apparently there are 195 countries in the world: http://geography.about.c...ormation/a/capitals.htm

  9. Comment - Firefox 3.5 gears up for a possible Tuesday public release

    2008 Final (Jun 29, 2009 - 8:26 AM)

Firefox has been my browser if choice for a long time - mainly due to extensions available.

I agree with others that Chrome is good but it won't take Firefox's place for me for the foreseeable future.

HTML5 support is the future - it's quite amazing really.

When ever I "fix" peoples computers for them; Firefox always gets installed and made the default browser.

  10. Comment - Boxee adds Windows support, Ubuntu users get 1080p

    2008 Final (Jun 24, 2009 - 6:27 PM)

Been running previous versions of Boxee but they were quite buggy. Upgraded today on my media center PC (Vista x64) and it's running great! Loving the new menu.

I've also installed it on one of my other PC's running Windows 7 x64 RC (7100) and all seems great with it.
