yes... Microsoft is a business... and they do make quality products for the standard user... I use linux and windows xp currently.. I am going into my 4th year in software engineering microsoft is great for my entertainment and relaxation... Linux is great for my software development... all the super linux advocates never want to see the big picture... sure microsoft wants to make money.. but they do a good job at it... now think... do you want your grandparents using windows xp or linux (no matter what nice and easy distro you use)!!?? the average user will be able to use the well developed windows far easier...

microsoft may not have rewritten all their code... but it is a constant migration towards improvement... do you think all the UNIX code out there was not developed in stages?..(yet there tones of flavors of UNIX out there...linux is a rewrite I guess)....

bah.. I dont know if I will ever see a day when people even the balance..

  3. Comment - Microsoft to Review Old Windows Code After Source Leak

    (Feb 20, 2004 - 12:10 PM)

Hackers... I hate that word... I am just finishing my 3rd year in a Comp Sci / Software Engeneering degree and I don't consider my self a hacker.. but if I look at code I can figure it out... and change if I wanted to...

the shear volume of code that people will have to go through to find a little bug here and there will be astronomical... I wouldn't want to do it my self... microsoft has a huge team which has knowledge of the code before hand ... they will surely find the bugs faster then a single person.. or small handful of people ...

  4. Comment - Windows Source Leak Traces Back to Mainsoft

hahahahahahaha... yes ...95% of home computers... which is where viruses can be major problems and distributors...

that 95% really pissed you off didn't it? ... hahaha.. you just disregarded the rest of my whole message.... windows machines where stupid people can pass on viruses are far more predominant!! I couldn't care less what you think... it's fact... it is much rarer that a person is going to be using a Linux box and not realize that a virus is in their email box and send it to all their friends... or whatever...

the fact is virus writers WRITE VIRUES because WINDOWS is EVERYWHERE...

    oh just for your knowledge..
OS with the most exploits= Linux (sure the whole argument of more services running plays a factor..)
OS that gets the biggest hype if Exploit found= Windows (Microsoft).. because there machines are far more predominant in the world!!!
