  1. Review - MSN for Windows

    9.0 Beta Build 1802 (Sep 29, 2003)

Im only giving this thing a 2 because it sure is great, but takes way too much RAM, over 70MB on my machine (MSN 9 + MSN Messenger (because you can't close it with MSN 9 open) + msniasvc.exe (MSN's Internet Access System Service)), which is even more than AOL 9 on my machine (~60MB)

    Ugh...

  2. Review - ICQ Pro

    2003b Alpha (Sep 13, 2003)

Grr don't be all negative, at least they did respond to user requests, added the skin which was introduced to ICQ Lite, AIM interoperability and a new ICQ Database Administrator which can be used to optimize your database if you are a long time ICQ user and it takes a minute just for it to launch... But still there are quite some unfixed bugs so I will give it a 4.

For a feast of screenshots head over to http://www.neowin.net/fo...ex.php?showtopic=371904

    I posted a bunch there.

The Beta supports Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher (5.5 works fine but you will get a few glitches here and there), Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox and Netscape 7.2 or higher.

No Opera support and no Safari support.

    No problem

Anyway this Virgin Digital music store is quite good, I mean large, very large music selection (they claim they have 1,000,000), they are powered by MusicNet, I used their AOL service which carried some exclusive artists other subscription-based services don't, and I assume Virgin's the same.

But one thing is that in the BetaNews article, they said this Virgin is a jukebox kind of software that rips, encodes and burns, but I can't really find the rip and encode part, maybe there's a beta of their software going on?

And also, I don't see Virgin Digital available at FileForum.

Apple's MusicMatch? I thought MusicMatch's owned by Yahoo

  6. Comment - AOL Opens E-Mail Access to Third Party Clients

    2003b Alpha (Dec 8, 2003 - 9:24 AM)

what makes you think MSN is better than AOL in terms of email availability? MSN doesn't even use an open email standard like AOL's IMAP, to get your MSN email you can only either use Outlook / Outlook Express, Webmail or MSN, no mobile support no 3rd party client support, now THAT's what I call monopoly.
