  1. Comment - Why I chose Windows 7 over Snow Leopard (and you should, too)

    (Sep 17, 2009 - 9:35 AM)

"Microsoft spends more on marketing than any other company. period."

If you want to look at it that way...

Microsoft also spends more than any other software company on research and development. I found that MS spends about $8 billion, and Apple spends around $800K.

Now, some would argue that MS doesn't spend the money as well as Apple, but the fact remains that MS spends about 10x more in R&D than Apple...

  2. Comment - Windows 7 Family Pack priced at $150

    (Jul 31, 2009 - 2:15 PM)

As far as I can tell it is $150 for all three licenses. So essentially $50/license which isn't bad at all in the grand scheme of things.

Microsoft owns Windows so they can do what they want..

    Oh... wait...

  4. Comment - A wish list for Office 2010

    I agree.

However, I have seen 3rd parties integrate their applications in to the ribbon, so it can be done. Was recently evaluating a control chart program (add-in) for Excel that completely integrated itself in to the ribbon... Complete with it's own tab and icons that fit well with the overall look of the MS product.

If only their code wasn't all locked down so that I could see how they did it... I have a few add-ins that I have created over the years that I would love to consolidate in to a single ribbon tab.

  5. Comment - Time Warner retreats from plan to test capping subscriber bandwidth

    (Apr 20, 2009 - 9:43 AM)

    This makes me wonder....

What about things like VOIP. Will that bandwidth and usage be included in the tiers? If it is not... wouldn't that be considered anti-competitive for companies like Vonage?

I don't have a huge usage... I've looked back through my Tomato logs and I don't think I've gone over 30GB or so.
