    Speaking as someone who is forced to use SharePoint for my daily work...it is complete garbage! It lags most users when trying to retrieve data, it often crashes for no obvious reason, and has proven (over the last four months) that it is completely unreliable. People at my company have been forced to use shared document folders on their own PC's just so they don't have to use SharePoint (which is against company policy I might add).
