  1. Review - FileZilla Server

    0.9.12a (Jan 11, 2006)

I have to agree that this is the best FTP utility I've encountered. Very user friendly, very stable, very clean. I have used it since it was first offered. While I have evaluated others, none are as slick as FileZilla, including several that were shareware or that we had purchased.

  2. Review - cFosSpeed

    2.13 Build 1060 Beta (Nov 7, 2005)

Although I successfully installed the utility and ran it on my notebook, running WinXP (and while it was running it did appear to improve operations) while at home, when I connected to my office network, I got the blue screen of death. This is the first time I've encountered a startup error with XP. My only resolution was to boot in safe mode and uninstall the program. I had even tried disconnecting my T1 and connecting to a DSL line and rebooting with no success. I don't know if it's because of VPN software or if it's some other conflict.

  3. Review - NetMon

    1.0.0.1 Pre-Beta (Mar 15, 2005)

Pretty sad submission. I've seen freeware that functions significantly better. What little information it appears to offer doesn't go beyond the local machine. Yes, it does provide some limited information as it applies to assigned IP values, but that's pretty much it.... This doesn't appear to be beta, rather pre-alpha.

  4. Review - Mass Storage Stopper

    Beta 1 (Jan 11, 2005)

Although I downloaded it in hopes of finding a solution to our network issue, it failed to install fully. I get an error stating, "Failed to start the service, Error:997, Overlaped I/O operation in progress". Any idea as to what I might have overlooked?

  5. Review - AdvancedRemoteInfo

    0.6.3.8 Beta (Oct 17, 2004)

After receiving an updated DB file, I was able to open the program. Based on dialog with the developer, I was able to resolve the language issue. The program truely has promise. It's a fabulous tool for networks. There are a few bugs in it at this time, but, again, it has promise. Export feature doesn't export the software list; No way to cancel routines that get hung up; Haven't figured out what the "Send" button does yet. Anxious to see what develops. I got say....the developer is very open to comments, suggestions, critical issues, etc. Many are so defensive. Keep up the good work.

  6. Comment - Dell, Wal-Mart Sign Retail Pact

    0.6.3.8 Beta (May 29, 2007 - 12:19 PM)

As a long time business customer of Dell, I find the move interesting, at best. Back in the 80's, I put the Dell in the same class as the Packard-Bell, however, when HP started providing extremely poor tech support and inconsistency in their server's, we began to replace our systems with the Dell line of OptiPlex and PowerEdge systems. Since 80% of their business is on the "business" side and since their support has been "top-of-the-line" for the Opti-Plex, Latitude and PowerEdge systems, I have nothing but praise for them.

While I see the move to the Wal-Mart distribution channel as an attempt the bolster/increase sales revenue for home users, I don't anticipate it will have an impact on the support we receive. I do not recommend the Dimension or Inspiron lines simply because these are Home User lines and support is middle-eastern based which is more frustrating than helpful.

Unless I start seeing a slide of business support and/or product quality, I see no reason to look for a new vendor. Besides.....who do you move to? Lenova, Toshiba, HP????? I think not.
