Now that I have used this for a bit more then a month I have to change my rating.
Most of the time this works very well. But there are times when it seems to loose itself and not have any idea what is being clicked on. Not to mention the occasional crashes. No system crashes just app crashes and it start right back up again. It also slows down periodically for no apparent reason. This would be no good if it were the only file manager available. Not reliable.
Giving it a 3 for options and for the times it is stable.
5.5.0.176 Beta (Dec 11, 2007)
This software is ok. It is a memory hog and it actually intercepts real programs and stops them from working. A bunch of emails to tech support finds no help except that they lie and say it's fixed when they haven't even looked at the problem.
THEIR SUPPORT SUX! STAY AWAY!
If I could give lower then a 1 I would.!!
5.1.0.272 (Oct 10, 2007)
I purchased this program and have been running it for about 1 year now.
The program itself is pretty good but when I ran into problems with the new update to 5.01 there support did everything but fix it.
They lied and said it was fixed when they never even checked and then never got back to me at all. All they do now is spam me trying to get me to buy again.
I WILL NEVER USE THIS PROGRAM AGAIN.
5.0.5.259 (Aug 23, 2007)
I have been an avid customer for Spyware Doctor for a couple years now. I have turned my friends and busness associates on to it. This version is not a beta and will not let certain programs run. Sysdumps are produced and traced back to SD.
Working with there tech support after 4 emails having to prove the problem was related to SD they told me to just keep updateing and it will be fixed soon. I can't run version 5 so i reinstalled version 4 and asked them to let me know when fixed.
They didn't reply for a couple weeks so i asked them and they said it was fixed a long time ago.
I uninstalled version 4 and reinstalled verison 5 and same exact problem.
I have paid good money for 4 different computers and this is not the kind of support I expect.
They just lost me as a customer!
NOT RECOMMENDED BECAUSE OF LOUSY SUPPORT!
3.0.0529 Beta (Aug 27, 2005)
I have never given any software a 5 but this is by far the fastest most easy to use and complete software for earth viewing I have ever seen.
Excellent job!
3.0.0529 Beta (Sep 2, 2008 - 5:34 PM)
Here is my assessment:
1. Took twice to Install because it wanted to put an automatic update in my start up. I denied that and it stopped installing. Went for the 2nd install then it installed fine without wanting to populate my start up. Then about 10 mins after install it tried again to populate my start up and i denied it again but that is just for auto updates and does not effect the operation of the browser itself. But now it keeps trying to populate my start up. A big NO NO for me. Don't mess with my startup there Mr. Google.
2. No drive/directory choice for install.
3. It seems very heavy. I have IE7 running with one tab same as Chrome, both on betanews. Chrome is using 3 sessions 10.9meg, 34.5meg and 10.5meg. IE7 is using 1 session at 34meg.
4. The GUI needs some work. I'm sure there are ways to customize it but after looking for the button to make this page my homepage for 5 mins i gave up. I know its there but if i have to dig that long for something so easy, well it doesn't seem right.
5. The speed of browsing seems as good as IE7 and faster then FF. I have not done a real FF to Chrome comparison yet.
6. No Crashes for me yet.
7. It stole all IE7's book marks. What if i didn't want that? What if i wanted my FF bookmarks in this one? Again lacking options during install.
Thats it for now. I'm de-installing this as right now there is no benefit. Will try it again in a non-beta release.
Hey you guys, don't worry about the politics of it all, the big 3 will fight it out no matter what we feel or say.
3.0.0529 Beta (May 14, 2006 - 3:26 PM)
This Google and MS thing is too stupid to even comment on but I did want to thank you guys, rijp and pc_tool, because I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. This forum has really gone to the deep end of personal feelings most of the time but this thread really just had me laughin and laughin and laughin.
Thanks guys, I needed that!

Certainly we have to appluad the efforts of SA and if your reading a BIG THANK YOU!
It would be easy to point fingers here but think about whats going on.
We live in a society of people that are trying different scams everday. I have seen a rise in phishing scams in my emails labeled "Cheap Gasoline Here" and you know it's just scum bags trying to feed off the unknowing.
PayPal, which I hate by the way, has protection in place to hopefully stop some if not all of these scams.
Their systems red flagged this one and put a stop to it, incorrectly? most likely.
If people weren't trying to scam us everyday this would not have happened.
Is SA a company on the up and up? I don't know and it doesn't matter.
Did PayPal unjustly stop this? I don't know.
Blame should be pointed at the scum bags who try and scam us everyday and make us take measures to block these scams.
Again nice try and THANKS SA and if you are legite please do not let this hinder your aggresion for future disaters. Maybe put something in place so this doesn't happen the next time.
