    "Symphony itself is not a Java application". That's a wrong statement. Symphony = Eclipse (Java) + OpenOffice. They wrapped in Java open office and they used their Eclipse Java framework for gluing everything together.
    As is it might not be very impressive, but being based on the eclipse platform, it will enable to build many enterprise applications that use open office.

    Not too impressed... I was expecting higher level technologies. Lot of "low level" stuff in C/C++ and php. It must not be too fun scaling their technologies.

    Just a reminder, much of the controversy with interoperability started when some states did require the document format to be standard... much before the EU...
    Also if all that everybody did require from a standard is to open it in a text editor, life would be rather easy.

    Ask Microsoft: Given that the Home Server team already started working on Windows Home Server 2, what is the long term vision of windows Home server and other digital equipment in the house?
