Apple has approved more than 100,000 so far, and rejected more than a 1,000,000. not only because of bad quality, but also for political, moralist, or other reasons, like that the app comes from a company that Apple and/or AT&T don't like, like the rejection of Google Voice.
and sure, with Apple's gatekeeping we have more choice, we can choose from 4 options out of 40.
do you think there should be a system that should review the websites we create and only approve big corporations websites to be available using a filter of "bad quality" that include political or religious reasons so only the rich that can pay the best coders and designers in the world can post a website?
the Apple store is the only store in town for the iPhone, and doesn't allow the creation of any other stores in town, sounds like a monopoly.

is not only about your friends writing inconsiderate comments on your wall or posting a porn pic, it happens deeper than that. how about being -you- who post that pic or wrote that comment? at least that's what your friends/family/coworkers/church would believe because it was written with your account. and you can't do anything about it because you don't have any "antivirus" to get rid of the (fu)hacker posting those things using your account.

I find the parody actually to be very funny! :D
the way the message was written in a parody of mr. donohue, the way he talks.
it is a very good parody.
also with a good message on the side.
also getting some content for artistic purposes or for delivering a political message can be allowed to use.

I agree that the iPhone is a computer. also the iPods are computers. even a digital watch is a computer, because it has the power to compute.

speed, real time updates, and to the point.

the flow is faster if the user just write a few words to get the idea out. you don't have to wait until the user writes a long explanation to get his point across, the compact format has the idea of the user in a few seconds since he thought of it, also, some users don't want to spend lots of time writing what they want to say, just a few words and let's go, keep moving.

twitter is more fluid.
